Miner Expelled from Corp After Violating The Code

Bumping miners is at the very core of what the New Order does, but it's not the only thing we do. Embracing the diversity of EVE gameplay is important to us; as we recently discussed, there are many ways to enforce the Code.

I encountered highsec miner Hail Heaven while touring one of my ice fields. He gave me the same old excuses about violating the Code. "Extortion" is among the most popular squares on Miner Bingo, and one of the most tiresome.

Hail wasn't exactly going for originality, I could tell. Like many ignorant miners, he accused anyone and everyone of being my alt.

Beneath the surface, however, I could tell this man was consumed by dark thoughts. A nerf to bumping?

Hail's comments were right in line with what you would expect from a disobedient miner. I wanted desperately to find a way to reach him, to wake him up from his AFK mining-induced slumber.

Fate intervened. I was contacted by Hesperaa, a hero of the New Order well known to regular readers of this blog.

Hesperaa is the CEO of Arctic Dungeon, a loyalist corporation that specializes in the use of wardecs. Among Arctic Dungeon's victories are the infamous Bhaalgorn kill and the defeat of hostile corporations. A warrior of peace, Hesperaa has helped convince our enemies to switch sides and join the New Order.

While speaking with Hesperaa, I shared the details of Hail Heaven's violations of the Code. Hesperaa decided to declare war against Hail's corporation. Hail belonged to Inter-Stellar Mining and Production, a highsec corp with about 27 members. Hesperaa began drafting an EVEmail to the corp's CEO so they would understand the reason for the war.

We wanted the corp to be aware they had a Code violator in their midst, and that this was not some random act of violence.

Not long afterward, I received an EVEmail from Hesperaa about the progress of the war. Arctic Dungeon was already victorious.

As for Hail Heaven?

He was expelled from his corp, which he had belonged to for just over a year. Inter-Stellar Mining and Production was not interested in harboring a criminal. Making the necessary payment to end the war and join the New Order was a much more attractive option. Hail Heaven did not respond to my request for comment, but I'm sure if he did, he would confess that his punishment was deserved.

Let Hail's story serve as a cautionary tale for all who would oppose the rightful law of highsec!

Enemies of the New Order Go Bang and Boom

The surge in support for the New Order has led to a lot of new bumpers of late.

Agent Bing Bangboom has been making a name for himself in Kamio, a New Order system next door to Halaima, our capital.

There is no higher calling than service to the New Order. More and more people see that now.

I received a report from Agent Bing about violence in Kamio. This report was verified by another Agent, who witnessed the event. The day started out peacefully, like so many others. Bing was educating miners about the Code, and suddenly a group of ships began giving Bing the carebear stare.

Bing told me that at this point, his sixth sense told him there was danger. Among the group of ships were two destroyers. One of the destroyer pilots, Creator Zaft, appeared to be the ringleader of the group.

Local turned ominous. There was murder in the air.

Perhaps the show of force was meant to intimidate. If so, the rebels just didn't get it. Bing knew he was protected by the New Order.

The two destroyers opened fire, along with a rookie ship for some reason. They meant to kill Bing's stabber!

The battle had the same outcome as every other. The stabber survived, and the rebels all perished.

New Order supporter Angel Violette looked upon the terrorists with pity. How many more rebel ships must explode before this is all over, and we can finally have peace?

Creator remained in the ice field, sitting in his pod. He pleaded for death.

For the third time, Creator spat out a racial slur. Unlike bumping miners, this is a violation of the EULA. But as we've seen in the past, miners sometimes break actual rules.

Just who is this Creator Zaft fellow, anyway?

He is part of an "Anti-Pirate" corp, but there are few other clues. If the rest of the corp is like him, I think I'll stick with the pirates.

With blood still in his eye, Creator challenged Bing to fight his alleged fleet of tech III ships.

Bing was prepared to fight them off in his Rifter, but Creator's fleet never showed up. I've noticed fleets like this always seem to get lost on the way to New Order territory. Perhaps the next time Creator comes to Kamio, he will bring some isk--and better manners.

MinerBumping in EVE Media

In the roughly seven weeks of its existence, this blog has greatly facilitated the rise of the New Order, the promotion of our values, and the recruitment of new Agents. I talked about this a little bit in the three month anniversary post, but basically, miner bumping has gone mainstream.

As word of the New Order speads across the EVE galaxy, my little birds keep me informed of what people are saying about us. Most of it is positive, though there are always going to be some whiners. Today I'd like to share links to two different voices in the EVE media that discussed the New Order in the past week. One is from a podcast, and the other is from a blog. I was actually informed of these by friendly sources almost immediately after they were released (i.e. within a couple hours), but as most Agents know, there's always a backlog of material for MinerBumping. Even with a two posts per day schedule, it's a struggle to get to everything in a timely fashion.

The EVE community produces many websites, podcasts, blogs, etc. If you haven't encountered many of these yet, you might enjoy today's post as a rare detour into that world.

The first link is to Episode 53 of the Voices from the Void podcast. Podcast host (and EVE Radio DJ) Arydanika and her guests discussed a number of things, including the New Order and this website. The conversation related to MinerBumping and the Saviour of Highsec begins at approximately the 53 minute mark.

Next is a post from the Diaries of a Space Noob blog. The author, Cheradenine Harper, describes himself as "mostly [care]bear", so I found his perspective interesting. His discussion primarily centers around a post I did for TheMittani.com. Speaking of MinerBumping, Cheradenine writes:
When I first read the authors own blog about his pursuit of hisec miners I was horrified. It was too early in my EVE career to understand. Lately I've come to regard it as a guilty pleasure, it’s cruel example of emergent gameplay but a lot of the miners he reports on are walking into the trap and digging themselves deeper when they are in there.... He's pointing out that the holes in the current hisec rules that allow him to escape any kind of response. He’s may come across as cruel or evil to some but he is intelligent (and god help me, very amusing) when he does so.
I suspect a lot of people would be surprised to learn how much of MinerBumping's readership consists of highsec miners. Remember, miners: The feeling of guilty pleasure you get when reading this blog is your conscience trying to break through, to let you know that MinerBumping and the New Order are good things. You have these instincts for a reason, now put them to use!

Tears of the Day: Biblical Cans

There are a lot of advantages to serving as Father of the New Order and Supreme Protector of various systems in highsec. I think what I enjoy most about these jobs is the community. I just love people. Frequently I will visit one of my systems and just say hello before I get down to the business of bumping errant miners. I connect with the community, engage with the people. They get to know me better, I get to know them better, and all benefit.

Yet with my privilege there comes great responsibility. When an issue pops up, I'm the one everyone expects to solve it. And within about five seconds of arriving at Elonaya, there was already an issue.

Right out of the box, ice miner Peyton SanMartin had a problem with me. I had not bumped or even encountered her before, but she was all fired up about something.

On occasion, my reputation precedes me, since my enemies do their best to spread vile propaganda.

Peyton's hostility seemed more focused than the average miner's, though. Something had been bothering her for awhile, and I was determined to find out what it was.

Then I figured it out. The "biblical cans" she was referring to had been anchored by rebels in Elonaya a few weeks earlier.

The full text of the six containers' message reads as follows:
To all those who listen to the preachings of James 315 i have a message. I quote James 3:15 from The King James Bible. "This is not the wisdom that comes down from above, but is earthly, unspiritual, demonic. For where jealousy and selfish ambition exist, there will be disorder and every vile practice." The New Order is false and its word and code ash. Deny them and all that they are. For Elonaya and her miners support Heavy Met4l Queen, Defender of Elonaya!
All this time Peyton had been mining, resentful of the "biblical cans", and when she saw a player named James 315 speak in local, she popped off. I tried to explain.

Peyton was deeply confused. She began accusing me of creating James 315 as an alt after being banned.

Peyton continued to vent her frustration with the preaching of those cans. Her agitation turned toward a rant about religious fundamentalism.

For a moment, Peyton calmed down.

I don't know what kind of personal experiences led to her to this behavior, but I doubt it involved miner bumping.

I made a harmless observation about my rights as Supreme Protector of Elonaya before I renewed the deportation of delinquent miners from the ice field. And before you can say "Code", Peyton had been set off again.

Peyton is a work in progress. I haven't seen her since, but wherever she is, I hope she is able to find peace, and a suitable representative of the New Order to whom she can pay her mining fee.

Thirteen Billion in Shares Sold

Hey now! We're going through milestones like it's going out of style here at New Order HQ. Over thirteen billion isk in shares have been sold. Theangryhobo purchased what looks to me like a deliberate effort to push us to the 13,000,000,000 isk mark. If that was the intent, he succeeded. A well-earned Supreme Protector's Tip of the Hat™ to Theangryhobo. Good show.

Miners Burn for the New Order

Though bumping is (obviously) a primary vehicle through which the Code is enforced, it's not the only one. Everything is fair game, so long as it can help guide a miner toward the path of reform and prosperity.

Some New Order loyalist corporations, such as Arctic Dungeon, have used wardecs to achieve peace and get miners to join the New Order.

Infiltrating miner corps and attacking the miners during their mining ops is also a useful tool. Several days ago I wrote about Agent Riku Klayton's use of this method to instruct an orca and a few miners. Afterward, Riku sent me a link to a video in which he recorded the attack. It's clear he took joy in giving those miners encouragement.

Another Agent, Orions Lord, prefers the can-flipping method. After using a procurer to kill a hulk in this manner, he sent the miner an EVEmail explaining the situation.

This was helpful, because it let the miner know the attack was not some random act of violence. It had purpose.

It remains to be seen whether the miner fully understood.

Orions Lord continues to let each of his victims know that their ships were forfeited due to their violations of the Code.

...And then there's good, old-fashioned suicide ganking.

Agents Shogun Chaos and Yamamaya Hayahikigane attempted to reason with the miner, but they can be stubborn.
Yamamaya Hayahikigane > everyone needs a mining permit, mmkay?
Shogun Chaos > myeah see
Shogun Chaos > everyone does see
Shogun Chaos > just how it works round here see
Anne Eledi > not like i care
Anne Eledi > im not butthurt
Shogun Chaos > so u didnt want that ship anyways?
Anne Eledi > nope
Our work will continue as long as it is required. It's also worth pointing out the diversity of tactics used by these Agents, and where they took place. Arctic Dungeon's wardecs usually occur in Lonetrek, Riku's corp infiltration was in Devoid, Orions was active in The Citadel, and Shogun launched his attack in Domain. Four different regions represented in one blog post. Whew!

As for the Agents themselves, they have proven Invincible. Just the other day I was training a new Agent, who was flying a bumping caracal in Elonaya.

Scratch one enemy hurricane. The power of the New Order knows no limits. I received an EVEmail and chat transcripts from Agent Bing Bangboom, who was operating in Kamio. He was challenged to a duel by T Head, who was flying a Scorpion Navy Issue. Bing grabbed a Rifter and stole from T's can. Even a faction battleship was not able to destroy a tech I frigate flown by an Agent of the New Order:
The Scorp was shooting cruise missiles at my Rifter which was about 500 feet from him in afterburner warp. The damage was minimal but I wasn't doing anything to him. So I moved out of his scrambler and warped off declaring my miraculous survival (due to the power of the New Order and The Code).
As Agent Bing noted, some miners just never learn:
Bing Bangboom > hey! I'm not dead yet
Gexcolo > Is bing one of those "Order" assholes?
Bihar > yes
Gexcolo > /emote sighs
....
Wilan > 2006 and coudln't roast that rifter? *shutters*
Bing Bangboom > now you all see the power of The Code. You may send me the 10,000,000 ISK and begin your life in the New Order!
Bing Bangboom > www.minerbumping.com
Tilaa Enkeli Charante > id rather kiss a frog then pay you 1isk...never gona happen
Bing Bangboom > Look here now. I was in a frigate and that was a Scorpion Navy Issue and he couldn't kill me.
Bing Bangboom > How can you explain that without the power of The Code?
T Head > ya and that is old news frig won't better a bs and the cruise missles are not designd from little shit ships figured you would have something better but it just figures
Bing Bangboom > All hail the Power of the New Order! Blessed are those who have seen and BELIEVE!
The New Order of Highsec, winning hearts and minds every day.
