Code of Codes

I usually receive mining permit payments in the wallet of James 315, so I was surprised to see 110 million transferred to Currin Trading from a highsec industrialist.

Boo Neiko deposited isk sufficient for 11 mining permits. So far, so good. But conditions were attached: Boo would not pledge loyalty and had no interest in following the Code. From her childhood, she learned not to bow to criminal activity, though she had no problem sending said "criminal" a bunch of money.

I sent a response. If I were without honour, I might be tempted to keep the isk for myself. Instead, I kept the isk for myself and held it in trust.

Boo refused to follow the Code. Though she understood that she was still at risk of bump and/or gank, she didn't ask for the money back.

I reminded Boo of her responsibilities. I couldn't help but be amazed that a miner was more willing to hand over 110 million isk than to update her bio. No one ever said bot-aspirancy makes sense.

It was a battle of the codes. On one hand, the code of Boo, which requires giving away money and getting blown up for no reason. On the other hand, the New Halaima Code of Conduct, the power of which transforms highsec into a happier, healthier place every day. I ask the reader: Which code do you follow?

  1. Is it still advised the you do not tell them (the permit buyers) about the bio change until they have paid the 10million isk.

Such deception from a person running for the CSM :(.

  2. There can be only one CODE

    (New Order code ofc)

Ok, I'll fess up. I think it was me. Old Boo thinks I'm a Knight/Agent, and one or two nights ago I practiced my bumpy skills on her Retty with my Talos.......no, she wasn't AFK...which made it more fun....at least I think she wasn't AFK.....hard to tell with her....so I guess that might have been the straw to make her try and get a permit.

Leave it to Boo to literally talk her way onto the Red Pen List after she sent the isk..:)

  4. First of all, hey everyone! Second, I don't see why changing the bio is a requirement at all, you already have the isk, and you can't make them change the bio in the first place. Third, you might want to take into account there might be a pride issue here as well, you don't want to force-feed someone their pride, they have to swallow it themselves if they want to become part of something bigger than them.

    1. I will also add that what I mean is that no game mechanic will allow you to forcefully change someone else's bio.

    2. Similarly, there is no game mechanic that will allow you to forcefully make them send 10 million isk.

It's not clear what this fact, or the one provided by Alistair, has to do with anything.

    3. What I'm trying to say is it is kind of ridiculous to require that at all, especially if they have a database, which solid evidence proving its existence is lacking at the moment. Second, the 10 million isk is, in my opinion, a way of solidifying the fact that you chose to pay for your "career" in EVE.

    4. Sure we have a database. Actually exploring ways to automatically API pull into it, too.

Ultimately, it's not a Knight's job to verify permit holders. Permit holders, in accordance with The Code, are ATK and paying attention. Failure to dock up, or acknowledge a Knight with a hearty "o/" or "o7", is prima facie evidence of bot-aspirant behavior, and reason to gank.

If a permit holder does get ganked, he can appeal his case to The Supreme Protector of Highsec, who will assess the validity of the gank and act accordingly.

    5. Thanks for the explanation. That clears up a lot, I figured you had a database, but the only I had found evidence was the chat screencap in an earlier post.

    6. Whoops, evidence should be before the "I had found."

Yes they must be prod to be part of New Order.

    1. The kind of pride I mean is the pride of not answering to any authority but their own sort. Pride in being part of the New Order is a very good thing though in my opinion.

  7. Now look at BOO. I will call her a MAN. With MAN, I mean this sort of MEN, that has not only balls, but also that type of hairy balls, that only those old, respected, expirienced MEN call their own.

Not only this (wo)MAN shows, that she give a shit about 110 mil wasted, she is (wo)MAN enough to stand to her code, even when it bears pain and harassment. That's a (wo)MAN! That's strength!

... So where have we seen strength from you, James? Opening a blog for self-celebrating on cost of others? Fine... even the Ultima Online Kiddo can broadcast himself. Ganking in Groups some Barges? Cool. Now do it alone and in a T2 Frig. Promoting as CSM with the Idea to make Hi-Sec Ganking easier? Fabulous, but why not remove Concord completely, destroy all Stargates, so that people must scan for Jumppoints and make Stations buildable and attackable like POSES? That will be real freed... Oh. Wait - Shit, I had just an Idea. Now I must promote for CSM.

Did you get it James? The question for me is rather:
    Who will I follow?
A MAN with the hairy balls to do, what a his own principles tell him to do?
Or will I follow a BOY, who makes big words on his blog, when he doesn't get his will?

By the way, I would go into your good miner/bad miner example and correct it, just that you see, why you have drawn attention from someone in this funny game:

Goofus whines in local after being suicide ganked. <-- bad miner, agreed.
Gallant says gf, docks, switch to a combat vessel and hunts the gankers like animals. <-- that's, what I call a good miner, but he has at no way to thank you.

I think you see, that I also hate AFK Miners, given by what I expect from a miner after being ganked. If you ask, where you can put me to, you can count me to the masses of Missionrunners and Casual PvPers, the ones, who don't just follow some fittings, but try out for themselves and learn in the process by doing the process. This said, I wanted to get in full time PvP over the last time and by the development around your New Order I guess, you are the one, that I choose as my enemy, teacher & mentor, while I get better. But sorry... to 'the Code' I will never surrender, since it is'nt me. (I don't know Boo, and I'm sure, she doesn't know me, but in this one thing, we think the same way.)

Since it is always my intention, to criticize my enemeys hard (so I expect from them), but always threat them with respect and courtesy, I leave here with peace, looking hopefully to see your ship somewhere between the stars. And when this moment is at hand, I wish you success, cause luck I wish only to people, that are worth nothing. Potential you have, now step from the level of a BOY up to the level of Boo and become a MAN.

    1. Thank you for cying for us, Anon. Your tears are delicious.

However, if you wish to avoid being ganked because you were mining without our permission in highsec, you will still have to buy a permit and follow the Code.

Hope this helps, and have a nice day.

    2. "...when he doesn't get his will?" Have you read this blog at all before now? Anon, James has begun influencing a lot of highsec, even if the New Order can't influence it all at once, regardless of what is said in comments.

    3. I do agree with your definition of a good and bad miner though Anon, except maybe a thanking for sparking an interest in pvp maybe.

    1. "Cry" = Tränen vergießen

As in the large amount of verbal tears you have just shed for us.

The Code requires you to purchase a Permit, and not mine while AFK. Or else we will add your barge to the long line of burning mining craft we have taken from miners.

Hopefully we will see your 10m ISK soon.

    2. 'Hopefully we will see your 10m ISK soon.'

I'm laughing so hard i'm almost crying. Please stop with the humour.
