James 315 for CSM Campaign Opens with a Bang

For weeks, it's been my intention to cover the CSM 8 campaign season in this blog. The James 315 for CSM campaign puts MinerBumping in a laughably awkward position: The site's editor and sole contributor, James 315, is closely connected to the campaign, being the candidate. Nevertheless, MinerBumping will keep its commitment to cover the campaign with 110% objectivity. Journalistic integrity requires no less.

Look at that beautiful picture of the Invincible Stabber in the Brapelille ice field, fireworks blazing upon James 315's triumphant announcement. Credit to Agent Lord Mandelor for this wonderful photo.

Brapelille was packed in anticipation of the bumper fleet celebration. Friend and foe alike were drawn to the spectacle.

James 315 was clearly in his element. Brapelille hasn't been this crowded since the New Order began culling it in late December.

Everyone was buzzing with rumors of an announcement about a potential CSM run. Also, everyone wanted to bump non-compliant miners out of the ice field.

At the approach of the appointed hour, the ice field began to fill...

After an initial meet and greet, it was time to get down to business. There were threats of violence, of course, but none dared touch the Invincible Stabber. The 1.6 billion isk personal bounty did little to tempt them.

The people demanded a speech. The Saviour of Highsec had no choice but to oblige.

In a perfectly natural, impromptu moment, James 315 recognized a face in the crowd. He had a personal connection to Brapelille, and reflected upon the marvelous coincidence tying together Agent BillMurray, the system, the weekend, and a film.
On Groundhog Day, everyone wants to know about the future. They want to know if there's going to be six months more of winter, or an early spring. That's how it is for all of us, isn't it? We want to know if things will get better, or if things will remain the same...

I have gone all across highsec, and I've spoken to many people, and they all ask me the very same thing. Will EVE improve, or will things continue to get worse? Things are hard out there for the good people of EVE these days. Nerf after nerf after nerf. People come to EVE to pursue their dreams. Every one of us has his or her own dream, whether it be scamming, or ganking, or awoxing, or bumping. But lately, too many people have seen their dreams slipping away from them. They're afraid EVE will lose what makes this place special.

I still believe that we can turn things around. The great spirit of EVE has not gone away, it is merely being suppressed. But to bring EVE back to the way things are meant to be, is going to require a lot of hard work.

The tension in Brapelille grew. Was this the moment that would change everything?

...And the tension grew some more.

Brapelille was rapt with attention. It was almost too much to bear.

And with that, the system exploded.

Brapelille local ushered forth a tidal wave of text like Jita at a spambot convention. After much rejoicing and chanting, the crowd went silent so James 315 could wrap up the speech.

In a poignant moment, the Father of the New Order told everyone to look at Brapelille's star.

And with that, the bumper fleet flooded across highsec. The CSM campaign season officially opened.

Ladies and gentlemen, let the games begin.

  3. I can't wait to see these blogs when he is elected to the CSM in a landslide...and then CCP doesn't listen to a word he says.

What? Isn't that what normally happens? The CSM is a formality, nothing more.

    1. "...and then CCP doesn't listen to a word he says."

Even if he does get voted in (which I doubt), I'm pretty sure you're spot on here. CCP will be pointed to this blog and see that his fave pastime is misrepresenting what people say (or just flat out lying). He is the exact opposite of what a CSM candidate needs to be. I'm fairly sure most eve players are smart enough to see this.

    2. If CCP didn't listen to a word the CSM said then there wouldn't be much of a game to play right now. But hey, at least you'd be able to buy gold ammo right?

There is humour and there is trolling, yes. But there is also lying about people for your own personal gain and purposefully misrepresenting people. I'm sure CCP recognizes and understands the difference, even if you don't. It's all academic though as he has no chance of being voted in due to the majority of eve players being intelligent.

Accuse James 315 of scamming is not going to make CCP ban him from running for the CSM.

( note: The Mittani was booted for publicly wandering into real life actions territory. Not in game scamming. )

  7. You have my vote good sir. I was a zombified miner of 6 months age looking to squeeze another 1% from my yield when my eyes were opened by James' helpful writings. I will this evening be taking part in a massive battle for the honor of my alliance against big scary ships. Now, that's the game I was looking for when I joined Eve. Many thanks and good luck with the election.

I will also be asking CCP to review the conduct of your Corp / Alliance, the reliance on trail accounts that disappear after just a few weeks, and the harassment of fellow players.

    3. Dear Spionkop,

Not content to hanging around in stations, you're now to be found hanging around in forums, throwing mud and not contributing. The pattern is clear, and you're so very predictable.

Good luck with the request to CCP to review the Savior's suitability. Before you do submit, please recall that numerous successful candidates, like The Mittani, don't give a damn about blowing up miners' ships and often order others to do the same. As history shows these orders are executed with vigor and glee. All of Eve knows this, even CCP, before last year's unfortunate incident, but again despite having a 10 year old toon you're behind the times.

I'm curious to know how schoolyard bullies make an appearance in your outburst. Schoolyard bullies tend to swear a lot: their vocabulary is generally stunted, malformed and odious. Ours do not; all our clients are addressed with a courtesy and respect uncommon to the internet. Oh wait - you swear a lot too. What could that possibly mean?

Also, good luck with the request to look into trial accounts. If you bothered to do an hour's investigation, you'd notice that all of our New Order toons are older than 21 days, and therefore do not fit the description of trial accounts. Furthermore, there are tools available to find out when a toon is biomassed before the end of the trial period. I won't tell you where they are or how to use them, because it'll no doubt be a long, boring and fruitless effort. I've got more important things to do - scratching my backside comes to mind - than trying to educate a loon. But I'm forever hopeful, and leave it to you to produce hard evidence of your claim. I won't hold my breath.

And as for harassment. As the Savior's blog shows, and everybody and their granny knows - except you it seems - we ensure we stay well within the EULA. This is proven by the history of successful petitions against us, namely the complete lack thereof. Nothing should be a concept you're familiar with, so I'm hopeful you'll understand sometime this year.

I can only conclude that you're stark raving mad and/or an amateur troll who only finds his F1 key with a mallet; either that or your mother finds it for you. Please bear this in mind the next time you thump your keyboard in vain attempts to threaten and cajole. It ain't workin' Bro, just like your resistance.

I await your tasteful, considered retorts with much interest.

      Doc,

So I lost a ship and my team got beat in the FA Cup. Hardly on Topic. I have no idea what Godwin is and what you do in real life is of no concern to me.

I am sure CCP regret allowing The Mittani to stand for election I bet he gets his kicks out of suggesting players log off and top themselves.

You tell me your a doctor and yet you fail to see that the behaviour of your New Order resembles a School Bully. Your either a bad doctor or a liar, I just hope its not both. Also diagnosing me as stark raving mad is rather unprofessional if indeed you are a doctor. Maybe your not a real doctor !!!!

Sure I stay docked, life goes on and I have noticed you docked on for hours on end, its called being afk. Like many players I have more than one account so whilst Spi maybe docked I can assure you I have other options. Considering that your character is only 7 months old you really don't have the right to comment on being out of touch, unless of course the Doc char is an alt and you don't have the balls to post with your main. 9. You know, Spi, I find myself totally having to agree with you. After the Goons lost a few Titans and made internet news last week, there's no possible way new players could have become interested in the game. Said new player also couldn't be interested in what's going on in the game, and look around. Since new players can't do that, they would never hear about the New Order. Having never heard of the New Order, new players wouldn't want to support their cause. Because no new player to the game can find out anything about the New Order, especially after a high profile event when it's even more impossible for new people to find out about the game.

Your logic remains invincible, which means I'm 100% incredible, but that doesn't address the fact that miner tears are tasty and that 315 4 CSM8.

    10. Peace does not sell games like Eve, conflict does of that I think we can agree?

But lets be honest how many afk miners mined the trit to build the titans and other capital ships. How many afk miners mined the ice to fuel the POS and propulsion systems needed to keep the Supers, Capitals and T2 ships in build. I wonder how long the Titan and super pilots mined for their ships? Alliances funded form AFK moon miners? When are the New Order going to take out a tech moon POS?

How many of those afk miners are in null sec?

Many of those in the battle use afk miner alts to fund their PVP characters.

Someone has to do the shity work to enable the pilots to fly the titans. Even the alliances need trit and ice.

If it leads to accounts being banned, warned then I am sure James will name / shame former members of the New Order for cheating and breaking the rules and expelling any New Order members that are in breach of the EULA. Can you confirm this please James?

As every new member of the New Order comes on board they will be tracked and if needed reported to CCP for trial account abuse. We are watching you.

    4. Spionkop,

It's usually the honorable thing for the prosecution to present the evidence to the defense in order for the defense to have a sporting chance of defending themselves. If the prosecution fails to do so, the judge throws the case out. That's fair, would you agree?

Secondly, if you were to present the evidence here what harm would it do? It's not as if we could falsify it, after all it'd only be a copy.

Yet you decline from doing so. I'm afraid that once again you're being economical with the truth. This is a habit of yours that I've noticed sport. Ratting on your Savior will not convince.

I am sure that the New Order will get some feedback from members that have been warned or banned for abusing the system. As its against the EULA to discuss actions taken against players it would be unwise to discuss any sanctions imposed in a public channel.

I would welcome James making a generic statement that he and the new order do not condone the abuse of the trial account system.

Maybe because you were in a ship worth hardly anything and you only get 20% of the worth of the ship that you destroy. Any bounty over a couple of mil is irrelevant in this case.

It appears as though James 315, a CSM candidate, doesn't have the slightest clue about the mechanics of the game. I think I'll vote for someone who actually understands the many facets of the game rather than James 315 who has very narrow outlook and little knowledge outside of highsec ganking.

The sentence you reference is a work of what is known as "satire." In effect, he's not only acknowledging the broken bounty system, he's highlighting the fact that neither do the miners who placed so much ISK into a virtual sink.

I hate to have to break it down, because it steals the artwork from the original piece, but hopefully you can carry forward with this knowledge, and grow to love our Savior, and support his Code.

James 315 is the FURTHEST thing from a bully and is a testament to the creativity of Eve's emergent playerbase.

To his detractors all I can say is: What have YOU done for the denizens of New Eden? James has created AWESOME content that MANY enjoy. The truth is James is a bully. Do what we say or we will kill you.

James is also incredibly vain. Likes to be known as the saviour and just to extend his vanity requires those who buy a permit to proclaim their support by adding notes in their bio to this effect. If you do not then we will kill you.

So you decide not to buy a permit. Move to another system and yet the harassment continues. They follow you.

This is the behaviour of a bully. All miners should report this as harassment. Bumping is allowed. Harassment is not.

    3. In fact, why don't we dissect that statement a bit more?

"Do what we say, or we will kill you"

So, according to your statement, any player enforcing his will on another is bullying?

You see *this* is why James is running for CSM, *this* is why we need him to win and make a stand against this attitude that threatens to rip the very soul from this game.

Eve is all about players imposing their will on others, there is no point to it otherwise. The sooner you self entitled whiners realize this, and move on to a game more suited to your taste, the better.

    4. I disagree. In a populated universe, empire space is what it is. A far more secure area than many other areas, where people cannot go around bullying others without consequences from the laws of that land. That is why New Eden has high, low, and null. It's realistic, and to believe that in highsec you can just get away with bumping/ganking others at will and harassing them without consequence is juvenile. Highsec and nullsec are different for a reason...because it's realistic.

    5. "In a populated universe, empire space is what it is."

      Agreed.

"It's realistic, and to believe that in highsec you can just get away with bumping/ganking others at will and harassing them without consequence is juvenile"

No one is claiming that these acts are without consequence. However, we understand that among these consequences are a brighter future for highsec and EVE as a whole.

"Highsec and nullsec are different for a reason...because it's realistic."

Again, no one is claiming that highsec and nullsec aren't different. You continually argue against viewpoints that no one has promulgated. I recommend rereading the Code for guidance. You seem to be a reasonable person, who doesn't understand the issues at hand, and just needs a bit of education. Good luck.

    6. "to believe that in highsec you can just get away with bumping/ganking others at will and harassing them without consequence is juvenile."

So, out in null it's perfectly acceptable to tell people where they can and cannot mine, but as soon as I do the same thing in hi-sec it is now "bullying" due to some set of rules that don't exist outside of your head.

By jumping through a gate, my personality magically changes from evil schoolyard bully, to authoritive leader. Wow. Thats some personality change. Or more likely your argument is complete nonsense.

Eve is based, from the very foundations, on players imposing their will on others. The only change that the various sec levels bring to this concept is the methods that are used to do this.

People like you want to take this away, making the game like all the other flat 1-dimensional happy-la-la MMOs, full of nice bright primary colors and elves. I wish you would just go and start playing one of these games and leave this one alone.

Trial accounts can be trained in days, last for weeks and then rinse and repeat. Only CCP can check the status of New Order kills and cross reference these with trial accounts, I don't have access to the data for obvious reasons. I would suggest you check kill boards and you will see a significant number of gankers who appear to be active for just a couple of weeks, never to be seen again.

When I start seeing the New Order actually fit guns to their bumping stabbers and shoot something then I will have a tad more respect but we know the New Order don't have the balls to actually use their mains for combat just the harassment of miners.

I've joined the suicide attacks, and I'm not a low sp alt. Phew, glad we cleared that up!

    5. I use my 4 year old "trial" when I'm ganking, it's the only account that I have and I have no need or space to roll a new character. The other two characters on the account raise the Iskies and supply the New Order with goodies when they can.

Lol!!! Then you obviously haven't been checking your own killmails! if you had, you'd see my main, Galaxy Pig. That's right, I killed you, and you're mad, but let's go deeper than that. Your best plan to defeat us is to tell on us to CCP, for some shit we don't even do?!?! Seriously, you're bad at this game.

  26. I started a new account specifically to gank. This character is just going to just get more and more dangerous.

Destroyer V is done, and Battlecruiser V in 8 days.

    2. Heh.

It will be a while before this character become the terror of space.

But grinding to Dessy V and BC V is important right now, since the skills will be split soon into faction dessy and faction BC skills.

I suggest getting it done asap, or you will have to grind one faction ship at a time, like you have to with frigates, cruisers or battleships.

    3. BTW, expect us supposed throwaway gankers to start getting BCs on line.

A half dozen or so Taloses will be a feature in upcoming Operation Free Willy.

There is no rising or setting sun (I guess you meant star) when you are flying in space. Gosh darn it, your most touching effort has been dashed against the asteroids. Maybe just stick to ganking eh!

    3. Any miner can request the Questions Three for a 24 hour indulgence. It doesn't cost a single ISK.

EvE is a hard game, and you need to do some research before stepping out of the absolutely safe career agent systems.

I suggest going to the nearest career agent in a different starting system, and talking to the mining agent, and getting a new Venture, and starting again.

      http://wiki.eveuniversity.org/Tutorial_and_Career_Agents_in_Eve

You can take the mining tutorial again from any mining career agent you have not talked to yet.

Use your Venture to grind some ISK, and pay for a permit with your first 10m ISK.

Permit Tank is the best tank.

Agents and Knights are always polite and helpful to newbies, provided they speak up and ask for help!

    5. Ah, then I suppose you are just going to quit in despair instead of changing your play tactics to try to win the game you are playing?

You aren't garnering a lot of sympathy with that attitude.

  29. 1 day mining permit for 1M isk, i was not given that choice. i dont play any more but what i can gatherer from all the telling in the net over him is that he just wants all the isk and sell it for real money over the net, ccp should look into that!!! And i did pay him 3,3mil and was still killed! The good thing is there a lot of systems where he never ever will get his way!!!

    1. Yes, there are pirates out there that will take a ransom, and shoot you anyway.

The New Order will not deliberately shoot code compliant miners. If they do accidentally get shot, and politely request re-embursement, they will get it.

Eve is a hard game, not an easy one like World of Warcraft. I suggest a little more research before leaving the Tutorial systems.

Here is the first thing you should look up, a staement by CCP themselves: "Do not undock with anything you can't afford to loose".
