Highsec Miner Grab Bag #24

Uh oh, you know what that crying sound means... It's time for the twenty-fourth edition of the Grab Bag of miscellaneous carebear tears. Let's do this!

I have to give Sasha Irkutsk some credit. Up until the last few words, I thought he might know English.

There's been a proliferation of rebel blogs and websites lately. Maybe Baron Von sparklefarts is on to something here. A niche market in the making?

Sometimes angry miners will pop into local with a one-liner like the above, and then disappear. This presents a challenge. How do you engage in a constructive dialogue with people who shed hit-and-run tears?

spacehusky claims the New Order is illegitimate. But how do we know if we're uninvited and unwanted? Where is the source of spacehusky's authority to speak for the miners of highsec? Hypocrisy.

It's typical of rebels to get everything backwards. There are many people who fill up local with hate--but Agents are not among them.

Exhibit A. I much prefer the poetry of Jackee Sparrow to the uncivilized filth of Drac0Stoner.

conquersucks had a daring plan: Buy every ship in Kamio, to prevent gankers from escaping. Luckily, no one bothered to execute the plan. It could have been quite embarrassing for him to realize we can travel from system to system in pods.

For his next trick, conquersucks recommended all the miners join one big corporation. What could possibly go wrong?

I don't understand people like Widowmaker73 Hita. He knew about the Code, he knew he needed a permit, and he even claims he had the isk ready to go. But instead of taking the initiative to buy a permit, he waited around and got himself killed. Carpe diem, people.

Given the extraordinary fame of the New Order, it's always fun to see someone like Eden Palantiri, a newcomer who had not yet heard of us.

If you were new to the scene, would you be able to look at people like Agent John E Normus on the one hand, and rebel SPIONKOP on the other, and know which side to choose?

My recent interview on Crossing Zebras got passed around by the miners of highsec. Some rebels even changed their attitudes as a result. Reasoned discourse strikes again!

...But there's always going to be the Johnny Crapauds of the world.

You know how sometimes when one dog starts barking, a bunch of other nearby dogs start barking, too? That's how it is when people like Johnny use foul language in local.

Fortunately, the Agents of the New Order are trained to deal with such creatures. They may be wild at first, but in time, there's not a miner in highsec who can't be tamed.

    1. Apparently, he removed all doubt when he began typing in Local.

    1. Never stop being awesome, Wescro!

But for the love of Eve, train for Tech2 fittings before you go bumming around in T2/T3 ships! =)

    2. Ermmm, Bobbins ... isn't he taking his main out to null to fight?

Or do you think he should just haul his main into highsec, and gank miners 24/7?

    3. I've lost worse in the pursuit of adventure. It was a good fight, I'd do it again!

Yes or at least a bit more devotion than your 10 shares (10 million isk) shows towards the New Order. Really a day old character has more isk than that! You should really add two noughts to that and I don't mean after the decimal place.

  5. Yeah Wescro! Going to low-sec while the vast majority stay curled up sucking high-sec dry because theyre too afraid, even if you lost the ship, youre still better than all the carebears/carebear wannabes/crybears who do nothing but talk and complain... mostly complain.

'activates hardeners to shield from F-bombs.'
I guess they didn't work. I'm sorry for your loss.

    2. Nope I'm great thanks though. Just pointing out the truth.

    3. I looked on link, he was in null, not lowsec. Although that is still a great achievement, and besides, ships blow up all the time in null.

    6. Actually, I lost more than 1 Tengu. One in Null, One in Low. I also killed a couple of Orcas, a shit ton of war targets, dueled some other T3s and won not to mention killing ratters in Null the second time I ever went out there. I have my API key turned off so you only get half the story.

      Ya'll wish you were me.

The guys that got my Tengu didnt use a single F Bomb. My hardeners were useless! Funny how even the null guys I killed were polite. Guess we know where all the spoiled of New Eden are!

    8. To the "Bobbins" guy who thinks a PVP pilot should be sad that his PVP ship got destroyed in PVP combat:

      Grow up.

    9. That's how the risk averse think. Loss of even one ship is an amazing setback, and really scary. To a normal EVE player, a ship going splody is part of the game.

Actually I am sorry he lost is tengu. He seems to spend an awful lot of time in highsec not being awesome ganking mining vessels. Now that his tengu is gone he will have to return to highsec since nullsec is so poor and all that.

      @Wescro
Nice to see you mine too. https://zkillboard.com/detail/28888037/
Still it seems a funny setup using modulated strip miners ii without crystals? And having the ice mining implant?

    11. haha Starfox for a while I thought you were talking about James when you mentioned "high sec" and "too afraid" in the same sentence... you had me worried there for a sec.

    12. @Bobbins

You linked the same mail again. Also, my vast fortune of easy high sec ISK from years of carebearing it up means I don't have to sweat over that Tengu loss. It's a little flattering to have some dig up my killboard lol. Should I show you my first killmail with the civilian shield booster? Now that one really makes me look like a fool!

Good news! After careful consideration I have decided to follow in your footsteps :).
How many years do we stop in highsec making a 'vast fortune'? I like this New Order policy of encouraging people to stay in highsec.

    14. @Bobbins
If you follow my footsteps, you will be a terribly unfulfilled trader/miner for two years. Make piles of easy ISK with no fun and nothing to spend it on. Then discover the New Order and be saved. You then realize how much fun the meta-game/pvp is and all ISK hoarders of highsec are missing out on it in their bubble. Then you crusade to reform.

  6. New order is illegitimate because they discriminate against non English speakers.

    2. My understanding (from two days of joyus reading of this blog) is that they bump miners regardless of the miner's native language. James doesn't discriminate. He'll bump anyone.

    3. Go look at the broken monument outside of Jita 4-4. James 315 did that.

    4. I assume you meant to say: "The New Order is illegitimate because they discriminate against non-English speakers."?

      Delete
    5. @Tracker K: that in itself is fine. The problem is that they can't understand the code and can only see New Order agents as despicable trolls instead of an activist group fighting for a cause. Furthermore there's no way they can pay an indulgence if they can't communicate. They don't violate the Code of their own will, but because it is impossible for them not to.

EVE is a multi-language game, and if you intend to impose your code ingame, it only makes sense to make it comprehensible to all who fall under its dominion. Otherwise, don't expect everyone to be aware of it.

@Anon@1140 and Agent Trask: that's irrelevant.

    6. I've had a long conversation with a russian miner using google translate.

He understood clearly what The Order is about, as indicated by his untranslatable insults.

      Delete
    7. insults alone don't indicate that the individual understands the code... that is the default response to random ganking.

if they truly understood the code, they would not greet you with insults, but instead with adoration.

either way you can't generalize one case for all...
