Kills of the Week

The New Order, particularly for its size, inflicts a ridiculous amount of isk damage on its enemies. This is partially due to the fact that highsec miners delight in loading themselves up with expensive equipment, all on the bot-aspirant assumption that they are invulnerable. Today's post highlights the highest-value kills inflicted via suicide gank this week against miners who refused--for whatever reason--to follow the Code that everyone in highsec is deemed to have agreed to follow. Let's celebrate the karma that got served up to some of these miners this week.

For purposes of this post, the "week" is February 24th @ 00:00 EVEtime to March 2nd @ 23:59. I took these from the New Order Logistics killboard; remember to submit your high-value kills via EVEmail to me or on the thread on the MinerBumping forum.

Of course we must begin with the Orca suicide gank. Arcanus Amatin lost his anti-tanked Orca (cargo expanders reduce structure) to our Knights. To be fair, he did have a pair of worthless shield boosters, and a 1mn Afterburner for evasive maneuvers. The Knights involved on this kill were Buck Futz, John E Normus, Capt Starfox, Wescro2, Dr Tyler, Fawn Tailor, Manny Moons, Alice Kinnian, and Sara Angel.

Special credit goes to Buck Futz, whose blaster Talos inflicted a huge amount of damage. He and John E Normus also managed to kill a nearby Mackinaw during the same gank--which was "tanked" with three Civilian Shield Boosters.

Our high-value mining ship of the week is Lele Ita Maulerant's Mackinaw, killed by Knights Manny Moons, NoseCandy, and Sara Angel. This kill is personal to me, because I was bumping Lele for awhile prior to the attack. He absolutely refused to purchase a permit, and repeatedly warped back to the ice field. If he had only listened, his loss would have been avoided. Instead of trusting in a mining permit, he put his faith in a Caldari Navy Adaptive Invulnerability Field.

Naturally, the faction hardener didn't drop (whoever says SOMER Blink is rigged never met the Loot Fairy). Interestingly, the Mackinaw was equipped with a tech II mining drone rig, which you don't see every day. In any event, Lele lost over 700 million isk worth of Mackinaw that day. Bonus justice came in the form of his nearly 700 million isk worth of implants, destroyed by Sara Angel.

The pod of the week belongs to Sandra Duke, with over one billion isk worth of implants gone in the blink of an eye. The destruction of this pod came courtesy of Knight Buck Futz. I'm always curious what kinds of implants are in the expensive pods. Here, we have a set of improved learning implants, along with a bunch of expensive missile implants. No mining implants to be found. It looks like Sandra is a mission-runner, but she found it's easier to make money by mining ice AFK in highsec.

In case you feel sorry for Sandra, I recommend against it. Her Mackinaw was killed by Buck Futz 32 minutes earlier. Her pod, worth over a billion isk, sat quietly in the ice field for more than half an hour before Buck returned with a Catalyst and put her out of her misery.

Should CCP do more to protect the Sandra Dukes of the world from the Buck Futzes? I'll leave you with that thought.

  3. AFK 30 mins in a pod in an asteroid field? All I can say is wow. I have no sympathy for these types of players.

Keep up the good work New Order. James 315 for CSM8 indeed!

  5. It's worth noting that even though Lele Ita Maulerant chose to equip his Mackinaw with a shiny Caldari Navy Adaptive Invulnerability Field, he did NOT bother to activate it.

    1. Yeah, I guess he didn't read the patch notes...CCP removed the passive shield resists, espeically in regards to the shield comp skills. So the active shield harderners no longer give a bonus when shut off.

  6. If miners decide to afk mine they deserve what they get. My miners keyboard eve. And with training survive most situations ( unless unlucky with what hits. Can never compesate for all endings)
So I say put towards shares in new order, or if you also mish make minerals available (from reprocessing salvage) to making cats for ganking and supply the knights thru currin . Bots and lazy miners deserve to get hit. Most decent miners, pvers and pvpers beleave that.

  12. No Core Defense Field Extenders? No Damage Control? No shield hardeners? That "thing" only looks like an Orca. Actually, it is not an Orca, to me it looks like a mobile vending machine providing ISK, killmails and tears when anyone aims a blaster on it, piloted by someone who doesn't value his ship at all.

    1. You forgot the extended bulkheads and large shield extender.

Here is an Orca we would probably blow up last ( EHP = 254,616 ):

This isn't rocket science ... well, maybe it is a rocket game.

  13. I would like to see the New Order attacking some stronger targets. While attacking weak inferior targets are good fun they send the message if you tank right the New Order can't touch you. The New Order has 60 billion in isk surely they can demonstrate they are a more capable force than these kill mails suggest.

    1. Obviously the New Order feels that untanked ships deserve to die more than tanked ships.

The only convincing way to show that you feel otherwise is to do it yourself. Talking about what you would like to see the New Order do carries no real meaning. It's analogous to you posting here that you would like to win the lottery. Well, of course you would, but so what?

    2. @Audrik Villalona
It is just friendly advice. While ever you only shoot the weakest of ships I will never have any need to be concerned about the New Order. I suppose its like watching a very poor horror movie I want to be scared but in the end I'm watching it more for the comedy value.

    3. "The New Order has 60 billion in isk surely they can demonstrate they are a more capable force than these kill mails suggest."

Simple answer: No. That's why they only fire at untanked gunless ships. Poor lost souls.

Regarding advice, it is typically given by those with knowledge or authority. You appear to have neither. This puts what you say more in the category of "stuff to ignore"

  14. Sending the message that you need to tank your ship is not something we we want to avoid. We actively promote the idea, and frequently offer suggestions to miners on how to improve thier survivability. Whenever a miner switches from a Mackinaw to a Skiff, or adds a DC II, or aligns while mining, or even just starts paying attention to what's going on around him, he is taking a small step toward becoming a better EVE citizen. That is a clear win for the miner, for the New Order, and for the future of EVE.

It's not a matter of the difficulty of destroying harder targets. It's a matter of the pilots of soft targets having a greater need for our help.

We have ganked three Orcas in the past three weeks - all poorly tanked (or even anti-tanked). It turns out this kind of Orca is pretty common, and we are helping to raise awareness that maybe such poor fits are not wise.

  15. Thank you James and the New Orderi no longer have to paint dark pictures of what might I I can just link to this site

My uncle has cancer and can no longer watch the screen while mining - he let his account go so he can concentrate on his family and his health.

Those that afk so they can do their housework and whine when they get ganked needs a wake up call back to reality.

Do people go afk when playing planet side or any other mmo why do they think they can play Eve without watching their monitors?
