The Ruse Kruise, Part 1

It all started innocently enough.

Jason Kusion, patriarch of the Kusion family, is easily one of the most famous gankers in EVE history. When Jason decided to create a corporation for the Kusion clan, he and Globby--the notorious Goon inventor of hyperdunking--saw an opportunity.

The result was a post on Reddit claiming that Jason had stolen 500 billion isk in assets from CODE. after quarreling with loyalanon about how to split loot. From the perspective of its authors, the story seemed silly enough. For one thing, CODE. has never maintained stockpiles of anywhere near 500 billion isk. (Unlike the great powers of nullsec, we use what we have, rather than hoarding it.) For another thing, loyalanon was permabanned from EVE nearly a year ago. Needless to say, he doesn't spend much time fighting with people over loot-sharing structures.

The story may have lacked credibility, but it had a mighty receptive audience. The Reddit crowd went into a fit of ecstasy. With 92% upvotes, it instantly rocketed to the top of the EVE subreddit. They bought the story completely.

Word soon spread to the Anti-Ganking channel, its chatter faithfully logged by New Order spies.

It seemed the Anti-Gankers were willing to believe anything, as long as it received enough upvotes on Reddit. But then things got turned up a notch.

Not wanting to miss out on the action, loyalanon jumped in with an even more unbelievable story. His own Reddit post claimed that he'd been my alt all along, and that the loss of the 500 billion isk cache also meant the end of MinerBumping.

One would think that loyalanon's story was too outrageous even for the carebear-centric gaggle of EVE redditors. Yet it, too, immediately rode a wave of upvotes to the top of the subreddit.

The Anti-Gankers were stunned by this new development. Being more familiar with the history of loyalanon's permaban, they began to spin conspiracy theories.

Regardless of the truth of loyalanon's story, one thing was certain: CODE. was finished, once and for all. Again.

The only downside to this tremendous news was that Anti-Ganking couldn't take any credit for the 500 billion isk heist or the impending cancellation of MinerBumping.

...On the other hand, these are Anti-Gankers we're talking about. Having failed to achieve a victory in all these years, they'll take what they can get.

Any skepticism was immediately stamped out. There would be no raining on this parade. If this "CODE. is dead" event turned out to be another false alarm, it would be heartbreaking.

And so the dial on the crazy meter was turned up even higher.

To be continued...

  1. Brilliant deception. The anti-gankers and Carebears on reddit were completely taken in. They got their hopes up only to have them dashed.

  2. It was fairly obvious it was a ruse all along. The theft part -may- have been true, however the whole "it's the end of code!!" didn't make sense.

Code doesn't own sov, doesn't have much in the way of assets except in NPC stations and has tens of billions in isk to use on ships that cost a few mil a go. It didn't make any sense that it would be disbanding.

It was really something to watch people not applying basic logic to something just because they so badly wanted it to be true.

  3. Hahahahahahaha. Any response from antiganking????

  4. Some folks will believe anything - if they ardently wish it to be true.

I gave the initial story a sideways glance, but continued with my New Order activities, like the dedicated Agent I am.

As the early reporters stumbled over one another in a kind of frantic and frankly ludicrous race, each determined to outdo his rival in the Drama Stakes, it became clear that something was going on. But what?

By the time it was over, I still had only the vaguest idea about the putative sequence of events. Now, at last, James decides to tell all.

This will be delicious, I just know it!

    1. The point is that the same people that were so happy CODE was dead, are the same people that EVE could do without. Seed minerals on the market and let's get to blowing shit up!

Highsec shitters, the lot of 'em. Too stupid to play this game.

I have been laughing for 2 weeks.

Looks like you carebear shitters are gonna need to get a permit.
      Or get rekt.

      XD

  5. I saw where CODE said "permits just went up to 100 mill a year. AND, a year in EVE is now 315 days."

    It's about time.

    2. @ anon"Code violator", if you can't provide proof you are just another highsec shitter. Proof is as simple as Evemailing one or more of these fine agents on your "Code violator".

So simple, and yet this carebear will be unable or unwilling to provide any proof.

Typical highsec shitter, doesn't deserve to play EvE.

We don't expect much from bottom-of-the-food-chain shitters, but we do expect you to know your place.

    5. Today I have violated CODE laws over 10b isk. Again I'm asking what are you going to do about it? Nothing? You are nothing and you will stay as nothing. Stupid peasants!

    6. Translation: I just lost a freighter worth around 10 billion ISK, and I'm such a coward in Real Life I post here anonymously. Now, you were saying something about 'stupid peasants'?

    7. 539 do you have any proof at all?

    1. Comments on that site are moderated because 'antigankers' can't handle it if we shitpost there like they shit post here.

Faildo Raine and his bot friends can all get a permit, or get rekt. Actually that's ALL they can do, incompetent carebears.

    2. Thomas and his alt Aldo, all they do is wreck you guys all the time. That's why you guys are so butt sore.

  10. I was there. It was real.

Until it turned out to be fake, of course.

Anybody with not even HALF a brain could tell it was just a ruse....which pretty much leaves out everyone in A-G.

Hell, I was expecting EroticaOne to make a Reddit post claiming he had Seen The Light and was going to join A-G as their new Scam Prevention Expert.

Was ROFLing hard the entire time.

  11. but... but... if the Reddit says it, than it must be true!

i take it those antiganking guys aint a very successful group?
if they get mislead so easily, by a joke site like reddit.

  12. Damnit, James! You did it again! You made a cliffhanger post on Saturday so I have to wait on the edge of my seat, biting my nails and wondering if the Code alliance was ever sold!

Now I won't know the fate of Code until after the Kills of the Week! You did this on purpose. You are worse than George R. R. Martin.

    1. Agreed. I think the only people who thought this was real were the Code spais in channel trying (desperately) to push their fake news.

Maybe some newbros and youngbloods, but mostly code monkey spais.

    2. Now,now, Anon 1:17, you are quite wrong to state that 'Nobody believed this.'; and you know it.

My own impression was that a good portion of those who follow EVE events at least knew about it - even if it held no particular interest for them.

Those who seemed particularly jocular about it were: White-Knights, the AG 'community', and unaligned Highsec miners and industrialists. Their joy was evident, even to the casual observer.

Newbros and youngbloods? Even some of the seasoned warriors of Reddit appeared to shed tears of ecstasy at the news....

      In short, you're (both) wrong.

  14. Haha, you are too cute. Just 10 minutes before this was published I got a miner asking me about the death of CODE.. He thought it was real.

  15. Presently on the off chance that you haven't made sense of this, this establishment has dependably been focused at a certain demographic. For the reasons of this article, I will expect you're perusing this in light of the fact that you are a piece of that demographic.freemovies
