Invincible Stabber Still Invincible

Another productive day of bumping miners and educating people in local, when suddenly...

Whaaa? A bolt of antimatter whizzed by my Invincible Stabber. Startled, I paid greater attention to what was going on around me.

Then another antimatter round streaked past. One shooter might be an accident, but two? Violent treachery!

Two Catalysts were firing at me, and an additional Catalyst and a Brutix were targeting me. I was in a 0.5 system, and they had plenty of firepower. Would my Invincible Stabber be cut down in its prime?

The Catalyst and Brutix who were targeting me opted not to open fire. I was already more than 30km away, far outside proper ganking range (optimally around 2km for the Cats).

Eventually, Concord came by and took out the trash. The remaining gankers sat around for awhile, uncertain of what to do next.

It was a close-run thing: The organized act of terrorism succeeded in getting my shields down to 99%.

In the aftermath of the attack, an investigation (which consisted of me looking at the overview) concluded that the ringleader was Jennifer en Marland, the Brutix pilot.

Jennifer's corp only has a few members, but they're all charmers like this guy.

Billy Love, the Catalyst who had neglected to open fire, followed me around for awhile. No doubt he regretted his decision not to join the others in shooting at me. This frequently occurs when a group tries to assassinate me: Some have the courage of their (misguided) convictions, while others get cold feet, jeopardizing the DPS of the whole gang and consigning their brothers-in-arms to doom. I don't blame them for their cowardice, however. My Invincible Stabber is even more impressive in person than in the stories people tell about it.

In the wake of their defeat, the gang tried to cheer themselves up. A tall order, considering they had done no more damage than a smartbombing gank Merlin. Jennifer maintained her silence, perhaps ashamed that she had not gone down with the ship, like a good gank captain would.

At the end of the day, the Invincible Stabber is Invincible. The question for all the rebels is, will they waste their days trying to kill an unkillable ship, or will they embrace its truth?

  1. Did you at least give them a "gf" in local? Not that you'd have to or anything, but it would be a noble gesture.

  2. That Jennifer girl is hilarious. She was stalking my scouts one day, harassing them by targeting etc but just being a pest more than anything. She decided to idle far too long near my scout so I came in and spread the antimatter love. She stayed quiet after having to dock in the only station (the one we were all in), and then undocked and left local.

Her master plan to get even with me was to gank my scout in her incredibly expensive Heron a few days later. Her glorious victory as she proclaimed in local was almost palpably desperate. I would not be too concerned of vultures of this caliber. :P

Speaking of which I have a kill right on her, just poke me if she tries to harass you and ill send it to you. I was saving it for a more expensive ship, but if she's in a brutix and there's a possibility of a pod, that will do. :P

  3. After careful consideration, I am now 110% certain that this was a premeditated attempt on our Supreme Protector's life! One can only speculate on the reasons - what treacherous thoughts ran through these would-be assassins' minds as they set their safety switches to Red? What rewards were they promised to spur them to such vile acts?

    1. Probably the reason some didn't engage is they forgot to set their safeties to red. It happened to me on my first gank.

    But she failed as usual.
Also i make all killrights available for 10 mill a pop.... i wish they would invest this 10 mill to join the new order. Instead they pay me ragulary to get their heads clean.
    Poor bastards :(
One day they may show reason. Until then it's bumping time :D

  5. This is embarassing...most of them didn't even have the guts to open fire and yet they proclaimed "victory"...sad.

    1. The rebels head is very twisted my friend, but one day all sheep will be united under the banner of new order and it will be good :)

    2. They don't offer 'gf' in local and whenever they fail miserably they scream how victorious they are... and when they actually DO get a victory -doesn't happen very often- they think at that moment they've won the war... Sad really.

Funny thing is, we actually have fun in game and the rebels don't.

    3. The space psychologist in me says that Capt Starfox nailed it...maybe that's why they hate the New Order so much: they're unknowingly envious of the fun they don't have.

  6. Maybe some of the rebels are actually double agents and opened fire early to bring Concord sooner? Even a noob like me can mouse over a weapon and see a light neutron blaster couldn't hit the ocean falling out of a boat at 30km.

    1. No need for double agents, rebels fail perfectly by themselves...

I know it's hard to comprehend, but for many of them the simple thought of opening fire on a player is very, very scary...they're carebears for a reason.

  7. Poor guys. They probably could have successfully ganked James 315 if they actually had some practice at ganking. Why didn't they just join the New Order and get some experience ganking dozens of AFK miners first?

    1. They could certainly join the Knights to accumulate some practice (and dispense some antimatter justice). But I fear no amount of practice will prepare you for ganking an Invincible Stabber! ;)

    2. The continued survival of the Invincible Stabber interests me, actually. In anywhere but highsec, if you're flying an "invincible" ship you have a gigantic target painted on your backside. Everybody wants to kill your ship because it's invincible.

It's human nature. When man sees an unclimbable mountain, he's filled with the urge to climb it. When man sees an uncrackable cipher, he dedicates himself to cracking it. When a capsuleer -- well, a sane, thinking capsuleer -- sees an Invincible Stabber, he analyzes it and determines how to kill it.

If these miners that James 315 is antagonizing are anything but spaceborne refuse, they would -- if not out of desire for revenge, then certainly in the name of human achievement -- kill James 315's Invincible Stabber. That it has survived so long is simply damning to the miners who would have us believe that they are EVE's lifeblood. What will it take to make them show a bit of humanity again?

The logic is not strong within this one. If a mountain is unclimbable, then you can't climb it, so why would you be filled with an urge to climb it? If you can't crack a cipher, why waste your life attempting the impossible?

If you are a sane, thinking, person; then enlighten us: what impossible task have you devoted your life to? Obviously, by your own words, you must have done so, unless you're insane worthless refuse.

    4. Then you misunderstand impossibility, fellow anonymous.

Meager centuries ago, human flight was impossible, because men believed it to be so and had not yet sketched a working pair of mechanical wings. Two decades in the past, the smartphone -- or "personal communicator" as it was called in science fiction -- was a childish fantasy. Only two years ago, EVE Online was doomed to languish and die under the oppression of highsec miners, because a project as grand and benevolent as the New Order was impossible to achieve.

So why do we have airplanes, spaceships, smartphones, and the New Order despite having previously believed that all these things were impossible?

Because in the eyes of man, impossibility is not an absolute. Impossibility is a challenge. The impossible goal looks us in the eye and cries out to our hearts, "Prove me wrong!"

This is how man struggled to the top of Mount Everest. This is how man cracked the Enigma Machine. This is how man conquered the moon and stuck his flag in its eye -- not by turning away and murmuring to himself, "it will never happen," but by shaking his fist at it and swearing that it will happen.

Dare to be bold, anonymous pilot.

    5. "So why do we have airplanes, spaceships, smartphones, and the New Order despite having previously believed that all these things were impossible?"

I never believed that any of those things were impossible, so your statement that "we" previously believed them to be impossible is incorrect. You may have believed them to be impossible, if so, that was an error on your part. Using your error as evidence in favor of your acuity in a later argument is quite cheeky, but a complete failure.

I notice that you have failed to provide anything you do in your life that is impossible, thereby dooming you, by your own words, to existence as an insane, unthinking piece of spaceborn refuse :( I hope that you will recant your earlier opinions, which now treat you so poorly.

    6. "Meager centuries ago, human flight was impossible, because men believed it to be so and had not yet sketched a working pair of mechanical wings."

The first manned human flight was accomplished via hot air ballooning, not mechanical wings.

"Two decades in the past, the smartphone -- or "personal communicator" as it was called in science fiction -- was a childish fantasy."

20 years ago in 1993, the first cellular phone to incorporate PDA features, the IBM Simon Personal Communicator, had already been shown in prototype form at the 1992 COMDEX trade show.

"Only two years ago, EVE Online was doomed to languish and die under the oppression of highsec miners, because a project as grand and benevolent as the New Order was impossible to achieve."

James315: "In 2011, I began warning you about the threat posed by carebearism, specifically from highsec miners who influence CCP with their endless whining. I claimed that the carebears wanted to remove all danger from highsec. I warned that a skewed risk/reward balance in highsec's favor would cause active PvE in lowsec and nullsec to be shifted into highsec. The boost in highsec population would give carebears ever-increasing influence with CCP and enhance their ability to further skew the game."

James315:"Things were much more difficult for newbies back then. But for some reason, no one ever thought it was important to eliminate wardecs or suicide ganking or can-flipping. Highsec is safer than ever, and all anyone can talk about is how to make it even more safe." (Both quotes from Real Talk For the EVE Community, Part 1)

So, according to the Savior, things are continually getting worse; according to the Savior, he was already aware of this issue in 2011; therefore, according to the Savior, this issue is actually more difficult to tackle now, not less. Your statement is thus definitively proved wrong, unless you are committing heresy and doubting Him.

    8. A simple algorithm.

      1. Add a blapnado to the fleet.

      2. Is the combined alpha sufficient to deal with the seemingly invincible vessel?

      3. If yes, do it.

      4. If no, goto 1.

If you fail gf in local.

  9. Ganking a bumping fit stabber (i.e. for speed and agility) is quite tricky much harder and more challenging than ganking mining barges or James 315/Currin Trading's personal preference of late, ventures.

After the gank attempt James 315 logged off - making himself truly invincible.

  11. I remember when Jennifer en Marland tried to gank my invincible stabber. The result was very much the same - her ship exploded and mine did not.

Still, I appreciated the effort (twice) and felt that we were all made better for it.

I am glad that some things remain the same. May you continue to try Jennifer!
