Holding It for a Friend, Part 1

An unwise carebear thinks that he can can away with violating the Code. But an unruly miner's laughter ends...

...where his lossmail begins.

An experienced player with nearly six years of EVE under his belt, devinebish should've known better. He didn't. He lost his 239 million isk Mackinaw and a 113 million isk pod.

Agent Krominal and friends were responsible for the gank. Krominal sent devinebish a standard New Order report. It probably didn't contain anything devinebish didn't already know. At least the carebear couldn't make the "I'm just a newbie! You're chasing new players away from the game!" excuse.

devinebish came up with a different excuse. His Mackinaw had been caught idling on a stargate. Since he wasn't in an asteroid belt, he claimed to be innocent of any illegal activity. He didn't want to mine with his mining ship; he wanted to get more mining lasers. No, there was no illegal mining going on here.

The no-nonsense Agent on duty wasn't buying it.

Plot twist incoming: devinebish played the "newbie" card. On behalf of someone else. Huh?

Regardless of whether a girl cried or a new player wanted to quit, Krominal's conscience was completely clear. He knew from reading the Code that he was in the right; the rest was just noise. It's the same with all of our Agents.

devinebish was a peculiar miner. His Mackinaw loss had made a girl/newbie cry and want to quit. He still hadn't explained how that worked. Though devinebish didn't tell Krominal the full story, there was someone else that he was willing to talk to.

devinebish joined a private convo with someone he trusted. At the same time as he was sending EVEmails to Krominal, the miner spelled things out to this neutral third party.

Agent Lament von Gankenheim, at your service.

Already, devinebish had provided more details: The only reason he was in the mining ship was to help his friend fit it. That could've been done in a station, but apparently devinebish preferred to fit his ships while sitting on stargates in New Order territory.

devinebish wasn't a newbie, but the Mackinaw he was flying belonged to one. Now even six-year veterans of the game can't be ganked without the risk of driving away new players. This was a problem. One that Lament von Gankenheim intended to solve.

To be continued...

    1. Not sure who you are referring to, miner, but you are completely allowed to go AFK any time you wish. You just need to dock up first or ask permission from and Agent of the New Order.

  3. Fitting a ship for a friend while idling on a stargate is one of more far-fetched excuses I've seen. Carebears are known for their dishonesty but also for their foolishness. I wonder which will prove to be the case with this Goofus.

    1. Agent LvG didn't gank the offending miner. He merely assisted the miner with understanding and helped him have faith in the process.

      Try to keep up, miner.
