What's Your Legacy?

One day, none of us will be playing EVE. When that day comes, we won't have any ships, isk, or other in-game assets to play with. All we will have is our legacy.

Agent D400 is one of the most accomplished and well known warriors of highsec. He was among the victims of September 10th. Though D400 can't play EVE anymore, his legacy lives on after him.

A miner will dismiss the importance of the Code, yet the Code will be remembered long after a miner's ill-gotten ore has been sold.

As we know from the Kills of the Week posts, a carebear's wealth can be incinerated in an instant. Expensive modules and no tank? You may as well pour gasoline on your wallet and light a match.

The carebear condemns our Agents for cowardice. They say it's too easy to kill the AFK and the unarmed. Yet even our "victims" will be telling others of the legend of the New Order long after they've forgotten their day-to-day grind of highsec PvE.

D400 challenged the establishment in two ways: He defied the bot-aspirant culture of highsec, and he undermined the "elites" who say all PvP should be confined to lowsec, nullsec, and wormhole space.

The courage and valour of an Agent is obvious, especially when set in contrast to the lowly carebears they gank.

Nearly everyone who plays EVE passes by the teeming masses of highsec carebears on their way to and from Jita. The carebear is quickly forgotten, if he is even noticed at all. But the highsec ganker who kills you along the route--you never forget him!

Carebears are pretty much all the same. They do their meaningless chores and unwittingly spout the Miner Bingo quotes we've already heard before. On the other hand, each Agent is a unique treasure, enforcing the Code with his own signature methods.

The carebear knows nothing, can teach nothing, and can learn only a little. What they do learn, they learn from us.

Every moment an Agent remains in the EVE galaxy, he breathes a bit more life into it. The life of emergent gameplay is the sole purpose for EVE's existence. EVE's value comes from emergent gameplay provided by content creators. Our legacy is the heart and soul of EVE itself; the rest is only spreadsheets. Each EVE player has a choice of legacies: They can add to the spirit of EVE through the New Order, or they can pile a few more numbers into their wallet before the spreadsheets go blank.

  12. I find it interesting that James (DJ Entropy) decided to post about one's legacy. I imagine that the legacy of James 315 and his agents will be viewed by history as a way to keep sociopaths occupied and out of the general population. Yes, I'm talking about you James, D400, Jerry Rin, Erotica 1, DJ, and others. As for my legacy? Since my real identity has remained hidden, both in game and in real life, the only legacy that I will have is pissing on the code and pissing off James and his agents of brown nosing any way that I can. Add pissing on them to that list as well. It will be a sad day when the EvE servers finally go offline, but what I can say is this: I enjoyed the ride while it lasted. After all, that's the point, isn't it?

The legacy of those who were banned was written by CCP and cannot be changed no matter how Jimmyboy spins it. Although we cannot link an in game character to a real life person to force them to be held accountable for their actions and force their sociopathic behavior to be added to their legacy, we can deride the player through the characters they play. As a previous poster said, HTFU, as history is written by the victors and not the losers like James 315 and his agents. Now that they have been banned from the game, forcefully ejected from their fantasy, let them finally exit their parents basement and join the reality of how life really works.

  13. Let me speak on behalf of KaKaR0TT Goku. You think it's funny that you are as fair as you claim to be. Perhaps this will be a final warning to those who take their words and twist it for your benefits? No, that doesn't work anywhere.

For history has repeatedly said this and I'll preach the truth.

Proverbs 19:9 A false witness will not go unpunished, and he who breathes out lies will perish.
    Revelation 21:8
But as for the cowardly, the faithless, the detestable, as for murderers, the sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars, their portion will be in the lake that burns with fire and sulfur, which is the second death.”

Now you know what your so called saviour is going to tell you what to write next on this site in order to keep his integrity. You better be ready to run from him. Because I will quote Ezekiel 25: 17.

The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the inequities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he, who in the name of charity and good will, shepherds the weak through the valley of darkness, for he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost children. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who would attempt to poison and destroy my brothers. And you will know my name is the Lord when I lay my vengeance upon thee.

I hope you guys at minerbumping listen to what was done and the only way out of this is a confession.

    4. @anon10:03

The blog is filled with hundreds of documented cases of miners being cowardly (playing exclusively in non-combat ships, then whining and meta-gaming when those ships are attacked)...miners being faithless (when you play an MMO, you have faith that the other players you see are actually players and not bots or the mostly-afk subroutine of a bot-aspirant, and miners are typically these things), and miners being detestable (trying to ruin a wonderful game so they may watch the numbers in their wallet climb in greater safety).

In the sense that propaganda is information presented to you in an effort to change your opinion, yes, this site is propaganda intended to warn everyone of the carebear menace. In the sense that propaganda is believed to be false...no, this site is not propaganda. James does not put words in you carebears' mouths, he lets you speak for yourselves. And some of the things you say...James couldn't possibly make you look any worse than you do just by being your toxic, cowardly, whiny selves.

      Delete
    5. You say like whining would be exclusively a carebear thing. Just to reminder for you http://killmails.thealphaguild.com/2014/11/code-ganker-gets-ganked-tears-collected.html

And of course miners fly non-combat ships. Just as gankers fly combat ships. Theres no evidence to if they fly exclusively those ships or not anywhere in this blog.

      Delete
    6. Lord, you really want pageviews for that, huh.

Not all whiners are carebears, it's true. But carebears appear to all be whiners. See the difference? Saying "some whiners aren't carebears" doesn't change that "all carebears are whiners". Logic, bitch!

      Delete
    7. Yes, generalization requires a lots of bitch logic.

Now, why don't you try to prove that generalization?

      Delete
    8. bitch logik wouldn't like that, it is bad for propaganda.
It is much easier to project own handicaps and failures on others and hate them for it. Thinking for one self and would be bad for that.

      Delete
    9. One cannot deductively prove that all carebears are whiny, at least not without resorting to the trivial method of including "whiny" in the definition of "carebear". Inductively, however, we have hundreds of examples of carebears being whiny on this blog alone. We have extremely few examples, if any, of carebears who respond to adversity without whining. So from the available data, we can draw the general conclusion: "carebears are whiny". Hopefully that helps you understand things a bit better.

While I have your attention, would you like to purchase a mining permit now? Only 10 million isk (per character per year), and the first step to leaving bot-aspirancy and carebearism behind. Come, it's never too late for self-improvement.

      Delete
    10. So, how's that Captain Stupid? I guess he's either whiny, or not a carebear.

As far as I remember, you're not an agent, and can't sell those permits. Anyway, I'd like to contribute, but my toilet paper storage is full as it is.

But you could give 10 M ISK to Veers, it'd be the first step for you to leave codemongerism behind. You know it's never too late for self-improvement. You'd get as much in return as I would get from buying a mining permit. Guaranteed.

      Delete
    11. Captain Stupid isn't a carebear, he's a Gallant. If nothing else, his bravery and willingness to gracefully accept loss are demonstrated by his having a code-supporting alt. Glad I could help you clear up your confusion.

I'm glad to note your concern for following proper procedure and ensuring that any money you send goes to the right place, but I can assure you, I am absolutely qualified to sell you a mining permit. Send me the money and an evemail in-game and I'll send you your customized permit so you can put it in your bio.

It's flattering you felt the need to copy my writing, but it doesn't work as well when you're saying patently absurd things. When you buy a permit, you join a thriving community of code-compliant miners, mission-runners, incursion-miners, and gankers, all dedicated to each other and to something greater than themselves: The Code. If anyone bought a Veers Permit, they'd join a non-community composed solely of 1-man corps, mining red crosses afk while diligently shit-posting on various forums about how they have a God-given right to not-play the game in any way they like. It's clear which is the better choice to make...better both for the person making the choice, and for Eve as a whole.

    1. So I'd guessed right, it was denial? I know it can be hard to accept that so many have risen up against your diligent attempts to ruin the game, but burying your head in the sand won't help matters. Can you imagine how corrupt and worthless highsec would have remained, if instead of banding together to fight the carebear menace, we'd just endlessly repeated "there aren't that many carebears", and "they're probably all alts of one guy"?

If you oppose our efforts to clean up highsec, good! Every heroic story needs some villains. But for James' sake, man, *do* something about your opposition! Instead of trying to pretend that there aren't all that many of us and that we're all James' alts, why not start your own anti-ganking blog? Or an anti-ganking in-game alliance? Why not be active?

      Delete
    2. So I was right, it's just denial then?

It's understandably hard to accept that so many have risen up against your diligent attempts to ruin the game. And it's probably doubly hard to accept how successful we've been at changing highsec, or improving carebears. But we did not earn this astonishing success by sitting around, trying to convince ourselves and random passers-by that "there aren't really that many carebears" and "they're probably all alts of one guy". We have had the positive impact we've had on the game, by *acting*, by taking action within the game to bring about that improvement. Why not do the same? Instead of trying to convince other carebears that we're all alts of James (because really, that approach hasn't gotten old at all in the last couple of years), why not start your own anti-ganking blog, with strategies for how to stop ganks? Why not start an in-game anti-ganking alliance? Or hell, why not make a ganker, infiltrate our ranks, and try to wreak havoc from within? For James' sake, man, do *anything*, so long as you're acting instead of talking!

      Delete
    7. I said I can, not that I will. Do you mean that because I want to do something more challenging than playing EVE, I should not quit? If you want to insult, do it, and don't just try. That's pathetic.

You'd see my contributions if everyone else like me would quit EVE too. James' prediction would come before expected: "One day, none of us will be playing EVE. When that day comes, we won't have any ships, isk, or other in-game assets to play with" . You see, I'm a casual player in EVE, but I've bought my subscription with money.

I think the game would need me more than I the game. EVE was a disappointment for me. It's way more easy than marketed (even the PvP part), there's no feel of immersion, and it's full of loop holes. And alts ruin the little fun the game had left.

There are nice individuals, like those in my corp, but the community of EVE in general is the worse that I've ever seen in any other game. And as the cherry on top there's CODE that tries to force it's "only correct way of playing EVE" on me.

There's two reasons why I don't pew pew PvP in EVE
      1) I rather gets skills and ISK first before I start losing ships
      2) Because "elite" players tell me to, so I choose not to.

I won't quit EVE, only because there's a corp full of carebears who need me. You (CODE) just need to find me and try to shoot at me, so far it has not worked that well.

    8. I wasn't trying to insult you, anon@5:23. Plenty of people are incapable of handling the complexity and time investment of eve, there's no shame in that. There's some shame in lying about it and pretending the game is "too easy" and that's why you're incapable of enjoying it, but it's ok, I expected nothing from you from the moment I saw you were posting anonymously.

You claim you matter to the game, because you give ccp money. Eh. By that token, every player matters, and if we all matter, none of us really do. If your greatest contribution to the game community has been "I gave ccp money", then you have nothing to brag about, and should stop trying to justify your absurd claim that we should or would care if you stopped playing Eve. One less money-grubbing carebear, oh, how will we bear the loss.

The community in eve, even outside of the ganking and scamming community, is among the friendliest, most welcoming, most newbie-friendly I've ever seen online. Your experiences may have been different, since you apparently associate largely with carebears. Hang out in the minerbumping channel sometime, or the brave newbies dojo channel. You'll find the nice parts of the playerbase that emerge when people's central goal isn't acquiring more imaginary money.

...I doubt anyone is actively looking for you, mate. You just don't matter, certainly not enough for anyone to target you specifically. But if winning a game of hide and seek where you're the only one playing makes you feel special, more power to you.

    13. You're frightened of what might happen if you attack an in-game name to your opposition. It's ok, there's no shame in it! The only real downside of admitting the obvious would be that it does give the lie to your whole "CODE. is powerless", "haha I'm not afraid of supporters of the Code" shtick, and that wasn't convincing to anyone anyway.

Please, bring your friend(s)! When you do, be sure to point them to the tab at the top of the screen which contains the Code; after they read it, I'd be surprised if none of them informed you that they sympathized with our cause to improve the game, and asked you to stop acting the fool.

What "real arguments" would you like me to make here? I asked another random anonymous hero why you carebears have taken to saying "DJames". He...well, "answered" would be too generous, but he gave the most coherent response he was capable of giving. From there, I've been engaged in a couple lovely conversations with various carebears. What am I supposed to be trying to prove?

      Delete
    14. Maria, I didn't say EVE is too easy, I said it's not difficult enough. There's a subtle difference. EVE is complex, yes, but complexity is not the same as difficult. EVE does not motivate me to surpass myself.

And yes, I claim that every player matters. Even if one player is just a drop in an ocean, the ocean is made of those drops. You seem to take other approach on the subject. Very well. My zero contribution is still more than your negative one.

About quitting I said you should be happy, not that you could not bear it. Don't put words into my mouth.

My complaint about community is based on forums, and there the old, "elite" and CODE-members give it a really bad picture. You are included. My in-game contacts have been care bears, and they all have been nice, and even the one single person who so far has been able to blow my ship. It was in low-sec, not by a CODE member I believe.

And of course no one is actively looking for me. That's why I post anonymously, I want to keep it that way. If CODE will not get me, why would I need the permit?

Now, if you excuse me, more enjoyable game and more friendly community requires my attention.

Do you believe that if one of your friends were to read the blog, read the Code, and agree with us that the Code is the best hope for saving eve and improving highsec...that would constitute in some way a betrayal of your friendship?

  18. Tears are never so delicious as when delivered in broken English. Especially fun are the ones where the well of tears actually has English as a first language, but is so filled with RL rage over a game that their words fail them.

I am space-poor by any measure, but am giving every isk I have to the New Order next log in, if only to keep the tap of care bears tears running wide open.

    1. I trust you've noticed you can take your own tears as well, they seem to be an endless resource.
