Three Hundred Fifty-Three Billion in Shares Sold

It's a good day for EVE characters whose names begin with the letter "K". Intrigued? Read on.

Today, Kaely Tanniss purchased an additional 300 shares of New Order stock, sending us over the 352 billion isk mark and earning her a Supreme Protector's Tip of the Hat™.

As if that weren't enough! Kaarous Aldurald purchased 1,000 shares, sending us over the 353 billion isk mark and earning him a Supreme Protector's Tip of the Hat™ of his own.

More isk, more shares, more Catalysts, more dead carebears. That's life in modern highsec.

  1. Not for long. Not if I, or my team, have anything to say about it.

Not for long? You're going to purchase shares and bump that number up?

    2. LOL, no, no, I was refering to the statement "More isk, more shares, more Catalysts, more dead carebears. That's life in modern highsec." :)

    3. Have you like a chart, presenting how many illegal miners were adjusted BEFORE and AFTER your "team" started to operate? You totally should have it, raises the moral and motivation.

    4. Well I never thought I'd say this here but ah... that's not a bad idea. We're only a couple weeks in, but in a month i'll see what I can drum up. I seriously doubt they'd post it here though. You would have to check it out on www.freeminers.com. Thanks!

    5. Looking forward to seeing it, along with couple of words about methodology. Personally I would recommend against using solely CODE. killboard for this metric, since many of Agents of New Order operate from external corps. Probably fetching all the relevant ships' losses (mining barges, exhumers, freighters) from the zkillboard and then analyzing the composition of killing fleet will work, but again I'll be waiting for your updates on this topic.

    6. There is no way to tell who is an agent and who is not just from zkillboard, unless I use CODE, or one of your sub-corps, but like you said that would not cover everything and analyzing every person who ever attacked a barge would take forever, (i'm covered up as is just with recruiting, and my boys are too busy shooting). Better yet, what do you think of using a sampling of just the top 20 or 40 revenue producing agents. Sort of like the Dow Jones. Can you eve-mail me a list of your top 40 agents? Otherwise I think I'd have to settle for CODE.

    7. Well actually the HTML produced by zkillboard is pretty easy to parse. Filtering by highsec and only Catalysts (+ NPC possibly) in list of attackers will give you a nice first approximation. My guess it can be done reasonably easy by anyone familiar with software engineering.

BTW, when exactly you (and your team) started your operation?

    8. Xen, this may help you to build the analysis tool:

    9. I kept an exhaustive list of kills made for the New Order when the Knights first got started, around October 2013. After two months, the rapid pace of kills grew unmanageable and I abandoned the effort. By then, we had already proven our effectiveness in making space money evaporate.

    10. Addendum: nevermind what I just wrote.

Xan, what is this 'team' of your's, and what sort of nefarious activities do you plan to conduct in our glorious Highsec?

    11. Alana, from what I know their main objective is to prevent as many ganks as possible. My guess is they'll have very minor effect on certain areas, not affecting overall trend. It'll be hard to attribute any change in numbers of dead miners to CODE activity or Xan's counter-effort though - as we see, the natural fluctuations in ganking metrics are rather high.

  2. Thanks, I'll test it out. The Highsec Protectorate officially came into being May 10th.

    1. That may prevent us from establishing a good baseline - zkillboard API may (and probably will) decline requests for historical data.

Also, I don't think having a snapshot of "star agents" behavior is a good way to check your team's success -- I can imagine so many ways for this sample to be biased. For example, you may concentrate on preventing specific Agents from carrying on their duty, yet less famous figures of New Order fill the niche, keeping the level of disassembled Retrievers intact. After all, you're not after specific Agents right?

  4. Let's try something simpler. We can use your treasury as a gauge of success or failure. Not just in the next few weeks, but over the entire course of this long over due, War for Highsec.

    1. Are you trying to raise cost-per-kill or to save rebel miners?
If the cost of ganking goes up but miners die in same amounts, do you consider your mission a success?

    2. First of all, I don't consider the free miners or myself as rebels, we didn't vote for you, so you have no right to impose your will on us, so we will fight you until the end.

Secondly, if you knew anything about me or my team you would know that we are about saving miners. We are white knights. he first rule of the white knight is always help when you can.

If we are successful and the number of failed ganks increase, or if your agents are busy chasing us around and fighting white knights instead of pirating, or if they are constantly purchasing mercs to chase us for you, then your profits would slowly diminish. That is why the treasury is a good indicator of who is winning.

You'll keep reimbursing your gankers for their lost ships even though they are no longer making a profit, and then the most devout will have to start making donations out of their own pockets to make it seem like you are still winning. Finally they will become weary and give up ganking for something more fun in EVE. Like fighting gankers. Then there will be nothing left, or at least just a shell of the New Order's former glory.

The Mittani says that war in EVE is a battle of wills, and I agree with him. I believe that the collective will of the Free Miners of Highsec is much stronger than the New Order. I don't believe you are up to the challenge of an organized resistance.

But we will see soon enough won't we?

I don't think so. There are many that do not draw on the treasury... or only draw on it for ganks that were actually "worth" it.
And for those of us that are happy to pay mercs to war dec people... well that has nothing whatsoever to do with the treasury.

There are also a number of solo gankers that do not loot the ships they kill, do not loot their own ganking ships (unless of course the miners are so AFK that one can fly out to the belt again after the timer has worn off).... and who gank out of belief. Spending private ISK for the cause... so that EVE is still, at least, fun!

I know many more New Order gankers operating outside of CODE than inside...I think you have fundamentally misunderstood a couple of things... also what the New Order treasury is!
