The Culture Of The New Carebear

Sasha Nyemtsov continues his march through the Manifesto II with another SoundCloud recording. You know what to do.

This was a difficult section to write. I'm an optimist by nature. I hate to watch things decay. But I'm also a man of tremendous honesty, so I had no choice but to tell it like I see it. The "New Carebear" is one who firmly believes highsec should be 100% risk-free, or that anyone who engages in non-consensual PvP should be banned. It was a serious accusation--one that sadly proved to be all too true. It's easier hearing it in Sasha's voice, though.

  1. The core of our cause. The real reason why we fight the carebear! It's not the ISK, it's not the tears. We fight to save EVE!

  2. oh yes, because anyone who engages in non-consensual pvp in highsec gets banned. Delusional. Stick to checkers.

      Fleeting relevance

    2. where did he refer to me?

    3. It was the part with the talking. It wasn't in your voice though, so that may be why you had a hard time parsing it.

    4. Ohhhh I get it, I'm a carebear. Makes perfect sense.

    5. I disagree with basically everything James says. He just spouts nonsense 24/7. No one has ever been banned for nonconsensual PvP.

    6. We are still talking about the bans right??? If not lets talk about the bans! Or me, either way is fine, but talking about me if far more fun for me.

    7. The game of choice is bingo, actually.

James might spout nonsense, I mean, he is talking about a video game... but he does it so well! What are you good at Veers? Not the power of persuasion... no not that. What then?

      inb4 "emotional"

    8. James just spouts delusional lies and is not good at the game. He was a ponzi schemer, a goon grunt, and then he led a griefer organization before disappearing into obscurity. Find a new role model.

      Delete
    9. For someone who's "not good at the game", James sure has you and your friends all worked up. What do we call that in Eve? Content. Ah...the irony. :)

    10. Griefing and scamming doesn't make you good at that the game anymore than Bernie Madoff was "good" at business. It just makes you a crook.

    11. Saying "James 315"
      gets a response from local
      Say "Veers"? Not so much

      Delete
    12. Yes - just like saying Bernie Madoff or Josef Stalin would get a response. Better to be unknown that the be a scammer and ganker of ill repute.

    13. This is EvE, where the banner ads promote it by such tags as "be the hero," "be the villain." I think it safe to say that James315 has WON EvE since he's both. Veers... not so much.

    14. Just like Erotica1 and DJ "won" Eve.

    15. See Veers, I knew you were good at bingo. I'm not sure if you know this but Madoff was executive chairman of NASDAQ and Stalin led a major world power through a turning point in history, so quite truthfully they were both at the height of their chosen professions. Ya should have just went with the tried and true Hitler, but the square is yours none the less.

But Veers you said find a new role model so I would like to appeal to your judgement, seemingly well-intentioned yet ultimately fatally flawed as it may be, on who in the Eve universe an acceptable role model might be?

  5. Its true... but then again whenever I saw a dog lick his own balls, I would always say, "If I could do that, I would never leave the house." Now that I do lick my own balls, if gives me all the time in the world to enforce the Code!

    The good life.

  6. Gonna ask a serious question. When you've forced Eve to close rather then let people play their way (James did say during his CSM interview that he would prefer EVE to go under rather then let miners play the game their way) what game will you play, taking to mind that any other MMO on the market at the moment would ban you for your behavior inside eve?

Answer truthfully now. This is a serious question that needs a serious answer.

    1. Whats wrong with the way James plays the game?

    2. I don;t object to ganking, you seem to have come to that conclusion solo. I am referring to his comment that he would prefer to see EVE shut down rather then let miners and mission runners play the game their way (and I have seen agents like Blackskull929 demanding people play as gankers or leave the game in local)

That is where my question comes in and is thus:

If Jameas did succeed in getting eve shut down? What other MMO would you play given that no other MMO company would tolerate the actions you have carried out in EVE online?

      Delete
    3. Code would need to purchase a EULA permit from me before playing another MMO, for the low, low price of ten million Rupees ( attempting to use alternate currencies that accumulates to the same value will be void and be considered donations, exact currency only in paper form).

Please send exact amounts under the docking bridge in Jita IV at Bay 315.

    4. Mr X, why is it so difficult for you to understand that following the rules in different games is very easy: one merely needs to read and follow the rules for each game. Sometimes a company may incorrectly enforce the rules it made; this proves nothing.

You might as well ask me how I can drive on a golf course and obey the slow speed limits on the course, given that I drove TO the golf course at 70 mph?

      The answer: very easily.

    5. Elite. Not an MMO, per se, but with more than 80 player kills so far, only 11 losses, and more than 2 decades of simulated flight (real world and space) combat experience behind me, I will enjoy seeing you attempt to enforce that permit on me Veers. Elite is one of those games where I really don't mind being accused of 'elitism' if you get my drift ;)

      Delete
    6. Remiel, that was an imposter Veers. If they are saying stupid things and using bad grammar - it isn't me, k?

      Delete
    7. Mr. X. You ask why people want to tell miners how to play the game..but the real question is why do you want to tell Code members and others how to play the game? Adapt or die. It's as simple as that. Whining about it only draws the wolves closer. Be silent, go about your business, and be prepared for anything. That is the key to survival. Crying to CCP because Eve isn't played the way you want it to be is just ridiculous. HTFU, or find another theme park MMO to play.

      Delete
    8. You're making a lot of assumptions, Mr. X. Why do you believe that encouraging social behavior in a multiplayer game will cause the game to fail?

      Delete
    9. Please keep the blog clean.

    10. Everything dies. It would be better for EVE to die true to its roots than for it to carry on for a few extra years as some pathetic, twisted simulacrum.

    11. Silly Mr Y, jumping to conclusions again. I never said I was telling you how to play EVE. Gank to your hearts content for all I care. I don;t expect EVE to come crashing down any time in the near or far future unless the internet explodes or something. I even said in my 10:14 post that I don;t mind ganking. Eve is a cruel place...expect starship related blammo.

I was asking whats called a theoretical, albeit, serious question.

      anon 1:41

Bully for you. I've been playing far longer then that and I;ve seen it all, from titans to BoB to TEST. I;ve learnt from the best and taught some of the newbies and yes, I've seen the sort of carebears you appears to be having a enurism about...the sort who join corps just to cause rage. Was I one of the? Hell no. I worked to make sure the corps I was in profited...obeyed corp directives as I got them from the CEO and fought in wars if I was needed.

You appear to have a serious rage problem. Maybe you need to take a few weeks off EVE and see the therapist as that sort of anger over a VIDEO GAME is not healthy.

This is been another post from Mr X

  9. "Ganking is a game. Predator vs. prey. Hunter vs. the hunted." Totally agree, I support the New Order.I know that I am the prey but I'm not a stupid carebear, I never autopilot and never sacrifice tank for yield, I will however go afk once in a while (hardly ever) to take a piss or put on a load of laundry or something, but I understand the risk I'm taking. All my ships I put a lot of effort into its defenses, Agents have tryed and failed once so far to bring down my Mack. 2 cats could not take it down, I enjoy my role as the pray and am always trying to stay one step ahead with better and better fits. With out risk I would not enjoy the game, I am probably one of the only "carebears" that are willing to still ninja mine in null with a prospect not for profit but for the rush of it. I will not purchase a permit for 2 reasons, 1. My mining corp is against the New Order and would think i'm an awoxer and 2. I don't want protection, like I stated before I enjoy the rush of being hunted. I sometimes go as far as mining as deep in your territory as possible. But since I do support the new order I may donate some isk using an alt. Also I would like to point out that there are a bunch of ice miners in the Osmon and Wuos area that need guidance, sure I've seen some agents here and there but New order activity needs to be increased in that area in my opinion. So from now on I will be splitting my isk 3 ways evenly, fueling my corps pos, bettering my fits, and donating to the new order with an alt. My Alt/Spy goes by the in game name -- Leers Vebbar

  10. how to discreetly contact a CODE official representative in game? Keep in mind I do not endorse nor agree with 90% of the things you believe in, do, or support. Not changing sides....not that i was really on one....but im at my breaking point and im letting two more of my accounts lapse into ground real soon. 11. (James did say during his CSM interview that he would prefer EVE to go under rather then let miners play the game their way)
    Easy thing:
EvE is not the game for DJames315, he should play "the Sims4". There he can force his will on all his underlings. CCP is weeding out the biggest idiots, so we will see what codies will go next.

    1. Just because a thing is easy doesn't make it right. We don't petition CCP to make EVE a game where miners can't mine AFK or make other stupid choices. Miners shouldn't petition against us to force us to play their way.

Last night I ganked a miner that obviously a computer run bot. That was that Russian miner's choice. To cheat.

That same night I was with a group and we had a fun time trying to gank a skiff that was defended by a guardian in the same belt. He was not afk and may have had a suspicion that something was about to go down. We failed that gank. Having a good defense and not being afk, that was that miner's choice.

James 315 does not "force his will" on anyone. He is the Savior of HighSec, and we choose to follow him. Just like the carebears can choose to follow the Code and be saved, or not.

It is funny, the whole ganker/carebear dynamic reminds me of newtons third law. Opposite yet equal. If it can be said that gankers are malicious and ignorant, the same thing can be said about that carebear and the ones like it.
