The Good Fight

EVE has an interesting progression system. The skill tree is not designed to provide older players with a massive advantage. Specialization allows new players to make a real contribution and compete with much older players. On the other hand, EVE's "learning cliff" means experience still counts for a lot.

Then you have people like Delwhin. He's been playing EVE for nearly 7 years. His big idea: to AFK autopilot through highsec in nothing but a pod.

Agent Tisiphone Dira was on the case. She exercised her authority to terminate Delwhin's pod. Incredibly, Delwhin then pretended to have no idea why Tisiphone wanted to speak with him.

Some people are very organized. Tisiphone is one such. She came to the meeting well prepared. With a level of professionalism that puts the GMs to shame, she went line-by-line through the Code and showed Delwhin where he fell short. Delwhin didn't have a leg to stand on.

Order and anarchy clashed. The battle of ideas raged in highsec once again.

One of the advantages of being an Agent of the New Order is that you're always backed up by an arsenal of ideas, facts, and philosophy. Tisiphone was ready to share the wisdom of the Code, on the platform of Delwhin's choosing.

Delwhin had a philosophy of his own: It's bad to pod people. If you pop their ship and then their pod, that's fine; if you kill a naked pod, that's a disgrace. Thus, Delwhin felt that by having less tank and less protection, he was more entitled to safety. Carebear logic.

Delwhin made an empty threat and repeated his claim that it's "low" to shoot someone's pod. It amazes me there are still people who think it's wrong to shoot a pod. Statistically, they are mistaken; pods are the ideal target. They have the lowest hitpoint to isk ratio, and implants aren't insured. You should always shoot a pod.

Next came a colorful analogy. There's only one problem here--a true warrior would never be passed out in the street. He would be alert and armed with his weapons at all times. Then, when he needed to go to sleep, he would log out. This is how the samurai did things for centuries. The New Order continues the practice today.

Progress? Delwhin declared that he would never go AFK in my territory again.

Hypocritically, Delwhin announced his intention to pod Tisiphone. It was another empty threat, but at least he confessed the legitimacy of podding people.

The carebear was a long way from total compliance, but it was readily apparent he was warming up to the Code. Truth be told, Tisiphone was probably the first person who had bothered to speak with Delwhin in many years. Our Agents never hesitate to make new friends. Consider the Code your letter of introduction to every man, woman, and child in highsec.

  1. Nice work agent Dira! That carebear will think twice before flying afk in Code space ever again!

  2. Too bad he was so combative, he could have achieved enlightenment with Tisiphone's help!

  3. A bullet and a kind word will take you further than either one by themselves. A kind word not preceded by an attack will go unnoticed, since carebears have trained themselves to ignore all social interaction which doesn't financially benefit them. And bullets without a patient, kind apology afterward is less likely to show a carebear the rightness of our cause. Tisiphone handled things exactly right here.

  4. Alright Maria, you've inspired me. How's this:

    Autopiloting
    Carebear asleep AFK
    Awaken to the Code!

  5. It's good, but I'd modify it slightly:

    Autopiloters!
    Carebears asleep AFK,
    Awaken to the Code!

Makes the whole thing an exhortation, and makes it feel a bit more dynamic to boot. That said, you gave us all a poem that was both elegant and topical, so thanks for that.

    1. Shit, miscounted syllables. Should *actually* be:

      Autopiloters!
      Carebears asleep AFK,
      Awake to the Code!

  6. I don't like this carebear's combative tone one bit.

  9. Must be a really slow day for the dwindling number of gankers. Posting things from over a month ago.

    1. Either that or he has put is waders on to sort through all the bullshit. The problem is that James 315 and the code are so full of bullshit that you have to be a suba-diver to dive through it to the truth. The truth is that:

      CODE: Chicken Out, Deny Everything
      CODE: The Cowards of Highsec.
CODE: Home of the Bot Aspirant Gankers
James 315: The Buffoon of Highsec.

So tell me, how does it feel to become that which you hate most? A bot?

    2. Tell me more about these suba-divers. I have a Subaru, can I upgrade it with submarine capabilties?

    3. Here is yet another example of how the foul carebears will distort the truth for their own nefarious purposes. Sure the gank happened a month ago. But I sent this in a week ago. Too many tears you see, I have to send them in bulk, else I'd be 'flooding' people's mailboxes. Ba-dum-chshhh.

Thanks all for the kind words.

    4. Really Dira? And how is that different from what CODE does? And you say that I'm an example? Just about every post that Jimmy makes on this blog is an example of bullshit. I have to agree with Gorila though...There is so much bullshit on here that one person couldn't possible generate it all. There has to be a team of asses who are crapping constantly to keep up with the demand for bullshit. CODEdot should rename themselves CODEbot. I watched that video of King of Highsec's twitch feed. For 3 hours he was going though, scouting, ganking, rinse and repeat.

Clara Pond...that is a typo. It was supposed to be "scuba-diver."

  10. What a bunch of bullies. Picking on 7 year old kids in game. What's even more sad is that the bullies themselves, James 315 and his code lackies are also seven years old. However, I found out that James 315 was trying to have a meaningful relationship with the Catholic priest who molested him. Talk about siding with your attacker. The one good thing that will come of this is that they will never breed. Once you turn gay, you never stray is what they say.

And I have a news report update. I poked into Kino and saw fresh plaid laid out all across space there. It seems that James 315 has gone to ludicrous speed again.

  14. Delwhin appears to be a bit of a dick tbh, there was no need for some of the profanity.
I hope our valiant hero Tisiphone Dira sent the logs in to CCP along with a complaint.
