The New Order Gets Audited

"Audit the New Order!" It's a chant frequently heard from disaffected highsec youth and conspiracy theorists. Despite our organization's trademark transparency and trustworthiness, we shouldn't be surprised by such demands. After all, the New Order governs highsec. People want to know that the entity controlling their lives isn't doing anything bad.

Have you ever wondered what would happen if the New Order did get audited? Wonder no longer. The New Order, which has raised money since its IPO was announced during the summer of 2012, received a surprise audit. The audit was based on an exhaustive study of New Order financial information available through the end of last month. I didn't know this was happening until after the audit was concluded.

Ideally, an audit should be conducted by an independent, objective source. That was the case here: The auditor in question was none other than Agent Kalorned, who equipped a green eyeshade to his hatslot and went to work.
"Greetings investors,

The New Order of High Sec (Known as TNO from here on out) has certainly been on a wild ride for the past 2.5 years of our IPO! Before I go into any detail concerning TNO's financials, let me just summarize by saying that I am very pleased with the growth we've seen thus far, and based on recent data I am encouraged that we will continue our growth trajectory for some time to come. I believe that for such a young organization, The New Order has done remarkably well in raising capital to finance its ongoing mission of liberating High Security space from the scourge of bots and bot-aspirants, and it is you, the humble investor, who we have to thank for a lot of this progress. With the formalities out of the way, let's discuss the numbers!"
Kalorned's report begins where you'd expect: A balance sheet presenting a snapshot of the New Order's current financial state.

"As we are in the business of only issuing on-demand New Order Mining Permits we have no expected receivables, and likewise since The New Order has no actual in-game presence we hold no assets. For those confused by this last statement, please remember that The New Order of High Sec is a separate entity from the CODE. Alliance many individuals in-game see on a daily basis; TNO can be thought of as an executive entity that guides the actions of CODE., however, actual day-to-day operations and inventory of ganking ships such as Catalysts, Thrashers, and Brutixes are held in inventory by specific non-CODE.-affiliated Agents as well as CODE. Corporations themselves. The New Order is currently uninvolved with any short- or long-term financial investment projects, has not made any acquisitions resulting in goodwill, and has no assets that could be considered for amortization."
Kalorned is a numbers guy. For the purpose of this audit, he made no attempt to quantify the value of having the Code itself as an asset. Nor did he make a guesstimate on the goodwill associated with New Order outreach efforts and victories like last year's big Alliance Tournament win.

"Since we have no creditors, our accounts payable stands at zero and The New Order holds no debt, both short- and long-term. The New Order does not have any subsidiary entities and so we see that our minority interest is also zero. With no acquisitions to speak of, negative goodwill is also a healthy zero. This brings us to a final figure of zero liabilities in total."
On the other side of the ledger, no liabilities. The New Order isn't beholden to anyone. We stand entirely independent from the bot-industrial complex.

"Stockholders' Equity is an exciting section. The New Order has, since its inception, offered only common stock at a price of 1 million ISK per share. For the reporting period presented here, The New Order has issued 604,313 common shares for a total of 604,313,000,000 ISK since its inception. At this time, The New Order has never declared a dividend of any sort, leaving us with 604,313,000,000 ISK in retained earnings for the reporting period, all of the ISK minus our current assets reported earlier having been reinvested into future growth of the business. This leaves us with a healthy net 22,949,134,170 ISK stockholder equity value."
As Kalorned's audit demonstrates, the New Order's finances are clean as a whistle. We're in a strong position to move forward. Next, Kalorned examined the New Order's history, with data compiled from the monthly "Top 10 Supporters" lists.

"Considering all months since TNO's IPO went live, we see an average combined monthly contribution by Top 10 shareholders of nearly 16 Billion ISK. A basic division operation on this figure reveals to us that an individual Top 10 contributor will purchase an average of nearly 1.6 billion ISK in shares per transaction. Top 10 shareholders have accounted for 89.19% of total shares purchased."
(A minor technical point: The MinerBumping Top 10 lists include non-stock contributions, such as mining permit fees and gifts. However, as a practical matter, the Top 10s are virtually all stock purchases.)
"The next column of numbers features the average ISK value of shares issued broken out by year with no adjustments. Keen investors will notice a general growth trend with one exception between 2014 and 2015 where we are trending far lower than the previous year. To address this potential concern, let's have a look at Figure B, the total contribution amount by Top 10 shareholders for each month."
2014 saw an unusually high average of stock purchases. Kalorned rolled up his sleeves and found out why:

"We see in the table that there were 3 distinct months where The New Order issues an exceptionally large number of shares; for the purposes of reporting yearly averages then it wouldn't be fair to leave these out-of-range values in the calculation. To address this issue we can return to the next column in Figure A where I have discarded the 3 months above to give us a much more reasonable average. As can be noted, using our adjusted values The New Order has seen consistent growth with no setbacks year over year to share issuances."
Kalorned found three outliers: March 2014, April 2014, and November 2014. As you may recall, Erotica 1 sent in a purchase of 39 billion isk worth of stock almost immediately before receiving the notorious "blank reason" permaban. That was a close one! The next month, Slave A00073078 also purchased 39 billion isk worth of stock, to protest Erotica's ban.

"Let's now wrap up this financial report with some graphs in Figure C. These graphs don't reveal anything we haven't already discussed. The first graph shows Top 10 contributions month by month, and the second graph shows us the total value of shares issued, adjusted, year over year."

What should we make of all these numbers and charts? Simple: The New Order is saving highsec because ordinary people are doing extraordinary things. When they send money to the New Order, they know they're getting the biggest bang for their buck.
"It has been my pleasure to compile these financial results for our very important shareholders. The New Order strives to be a beacon of transparency, and on behalf of The New Order Of High Sec's financial division I hope this report addresses all your questions concerning the financial health of the organization. Should you have questions regarding the results feel free to eve mail the compiler of the results, Kalorned, in-game. Here's to another 3 years and beyond of improving High Sec!"
And so it was that the New Order of Highsec passed its audit with flying colors. Not only is the New Order the most transparent organization in EVE--it's also the most financially awesome.

That's what the lost soul said idiot....

So I ask again, where did the 580+ Billion isk that is missing go?

As that part that I quoted implies is that each entity in the NOH operate independent of each other and has their own SRP programs.

  13. So let me summarize this: TNA has assets of roughly 23 billion ISK and it's shareholders bought stock for a total of 604 billion ISK. That's all the relevant numbers, there were no investments or anything - which raises the question: Where are about 581 billion ISK, which is the difference between the assets and the total shareholders purchased in shares?

I think the current (and furure) shareholders would be interested in an answer to that question. They surely weren't used to buy equipment for CODE., as we speak about two totally independent legal entities, as stated in the audit.

    So?

Please let me answer your question.

The 581 billion isk you reference was used to buy ganking assets for CODE. Alliance and related New Order entities. The balance belongs to James 315, as thanks for maintaining this superb blog, in which carebears like you fight an eternally losing battle against an invincible enemy, and we trounce you daily.

Our money goes to victory, every day, until EVE's servers go dark or everyone in highsec is a permit-carrying miner.

      Delete
    3. So why aren't the ganking assets and James 315's Loan on the balance sheet. You cant call a Balance Sheet a Balance Sheet unless it balances.

      Delete
    4. The "missing" ISK was exchanged for ganking ships, miner tears and various non-convertible lols. While, for the purpose of an audit, they are difficult to put a price on, they are the priceless things that make life in highsec worth living.

      Delete
    5. Carebears seem to have trouble realizing that while the broader Code organization and CODE. are separate entities, the broader Code (as personified by James) provides aid to both CODE. and all the smaller Code-compliant corporations and alliances. I've received SRP from James when I've requested it (before I realized that I was bothering the Savior of Highsec for peanuts and that I could easily fund my own ganking), and many small independent gankers do as well. Send killmails, receive SRP. It's simple.

      Delete
    6. This is why I love the New Order- It's a cause that's higher that any of us, and because of that, I know that spending my own money or giving to my fellow Code-compliant Agents helps us all- even those of us who we are targeting.

Really, this is the greatest charity EVE Online has ever seen- and it definitely is the most fulfilling and personally satisfying. I agree 100% Maria.

Even if he did do such a thing, I consider it a worthy payment for bringing us the bastion of content and exploding stuff that is the New Order of Highsec.

I guess I'll stick with the name for now.
      Step 1 - Grab yourself a catalyst.
Step 2 - Find yourself some non-compliant miners.
Step 3 - Shoot said miners.
Step 4 - Bask in the glory that is James 315.

      Really easy.

  29. Interesting read! Some insight into the expenses would also be cool.

  30. For the skeptics, have a look at how much for instance CODE. alone gets blown up in losses: https://eve-kill.net/?a=alliance_detail&all_id=8504
Thats nearly 800 bill. ( while blowing up 13500 billion worth in bot aspirancy, quite an achievement!!)

    1. This ^^^

Math & logical thought is really, really hard for the AG crew. I wonder if that's why they are so angry all the time?

    2. Kind of like how truth and honesty are really, really difficult for code monkeys...

    3. Holy shit, there's just no pleasing you is there?

You say we don't do audits, we do audits. You say we don't follow our own Code, we follow our own Code. You say we gank our own permit holders, to this day, there has yet to be any evidence presented that compliant miners were ganked.

What there are however, is miners who call our Agents racist, sexist, homophobic, slurs mixed with homophobic insults, they say James scams us, and they say that they have fun mining.

I think any reasonable person would understand that it's the miners who are incapable of telling the truth.

Now now, no generalizations please. Pleae don`t assume that all of us or even the majority of us are like the guys who get depicted in this Blog.

And, to be quite honest with you, the In-Game behaviour of some Agents who contact people whose ships got destroyed to "rub it in", is rather questionable.

I don`t have a problem with Ganking. It is part of the game. Trolling, on the other hand, is not. If you get flak, then because more often than never some of you deserve it.

      Sincerely

    5. @MiningDrone

FYI, it is not the policy of the New Order to provide warnings of impending ganks to non-permit holders, similar to how it is not the policy of other law enforcement agencies to "tip-off" criminals that their actions are illegal and that arrests are imminent. The police just move in and arrest without warning, because it was the responsibility of the criminal to know the law and follow it. Arguing with the police after they've arrested you is not only pointless, it is stupid, and likely to get you into more trouble.

New Order Agents are merciful in that they contact the non-compliant miner after the gank to give it a chance to become compliant voluntarily.

I'll bet you didn't know- Only Permit holders receive warnings in local to ensure that they are at their keyboards. Should they respond, then they are compliant, and their mining ships are passed over without incident, as is promised by the Saviour, James 315.

well said it's a mistake often made by code sycophants to pigeon hole everyone.
when it is they who lack diversity, as they all think and behave exactly like eachother.
not a single individual thought among any of them, and they call miners "bot aspirant"

  31. About this missing 0.58 trillion ISK, let's just go ahead and assume our supreme protector 315 has imbezzled it as yet another epic and unprescedented scam. I can't say I'd be terribly surprised, in fact, I'm pretty sure I'd respect the man even more, but wait a minute!

I think it's more complex than that! 8-|

    Let's dig deeper.

If James 315 ran off with all THOSE billions, where have all THESE billions myself and my fellow agents have been using to explode all THOSE Trillions been coming from!?!?

I know I didn't do it, I don't do a DAMN thing in this game that makes money...

So that begs the question: Where'd the ISK come from?

Hmmmmm Mr. Repetative Thick-headed Anonymous? Where did the ISK come from?

My reimbursements come from James 315 directly, so has he performed some other groundbreaking scam we don't know about and used the funds to cover this one?

We'll have more as the investigation continues...

    1. Ultimately, you know it's not about where the money goes. It's conspiracy theory. There is CODE. This thing that some people desperately deny or discredit to the point that the conclusion has already been assumed and now there's just the small matter of making the facts fit. The more facts you present, the more wild and crazy things are going to have to get to cram them into the assumed conclusion. People who have exceeded their ability to warp the facts have no choice but to stoop to irrelevant personal attacks so that they still have something to argue about while continuing to assume they've been right all along.

...or so I've come to think of it, anyway. Take it for what you will, though.

  32. Not sure if most of these carebears are trolling, or just stupid when asking where the ISK went.
It's been stated over and over throughout this blog's inception that shares fund the SRP. A quick look at eve-kill.net shows CODE has lost 793 billion worth of ships since Jan 2013. Take out the about 270B worth of July 2014 kills when that one dude exploited the kill mail calculator by blowing up MTUs full of R.A.M. chips, and you're at 523B, and that's just ships lost where someone whored in on CONCORD or FACPO. When I ganked, 90% of my losses never showed up as losses on eve-kill, and James always reimbursed me for losses I submitted.

  33. I'm so butthurt about not being on the top 10 douchebag list. I'm also sad about being scammed out of 11 B isk. But thats okay. Atleast I have the minerbumping blog to come back to so I can pretend I'm an agent, but I really dont do anything for the code. I just run my mouth like I care but I really dont.

  34. Carl here. I have donated over 30 billion ISK to the war effort, and i couldn't be more pleased with my purchase. I rarely ever play EVE anymore, but i read this blog daily. I don't even care where the ISK goes. If it actually goes towards reimbursement than that's just an added bonus. The content of the blog is worth every isk.

As the third largest shareholder, i feel a certain pride with my position within the TNO. I'm hoping to become the largest shareholder some day. Long live our dear leader and Saviour.
