EVE's #1 Ranked PvP'er Is Permabanned

Earlier this week, rumors began circulating about the permaban of zKillboard's #1 ranked EVE player, a pilot credited with over 10 trillion isk worth of kills. I can now confirm that these rumors are true. loyalanon and his longtime associate, 412nv Yaken, have been permanently banned from EVE.

As has become CCP's custom, the ban pop-up does not include the reason for the ban. It refers to an email from customer support, but loyalanon says he's still waiting on that email. 412nv Yaken's ban is equally mysterious, with no explanation forthcoming as of yet.

Personally, I've always preferred a more transparent approach:

The timing of these bans is noteworthy. loyalanon announced his retirement in a multi-part EVEmail on April 3rd which contained a lengthy account of his storied history with the CODE. alliance. At loyalanon's request, I posted the entirety of his message in a series of MinerBumping posts earlier this month. The discovery of loyalanon's ban was delayed because he wasn't logging in as frequently. Like a cop movie in reverse, loyalanon was banned just days after his retirement.

As for 412nv Yaken, he had also recently retired from highsec ganking. 412nv left CODE. to join Snuff Box (primarily a lowsec corp) about a month before the bans occurred. loyalanon and 412nv Yaken were two of EVE's most prolific suicide gankers. Incredibly, due to the timing of the bans, CCP failed to prevent even a single highsec carebear from being ganked. It's as though each and every one of our Agents' ganks were meant to be.

Normally, this would be the part where I extol the virtues and accomplishments of our newly martyred Agents. loyalanon kind of already did that job for me with his EVEmail, however.

And let's not allow 412nv Yaken to become a footnote to the story of his own permaban. As loyalanon wrote, 412nv has a long record of achievements as an Agent of the New Order. He ganked over a trillion and a half isk of carebears and trained many other Agents in the art. Without him, highsec wouldn't shine as brightly today as it does.

...Which raises another important point. Not only did these permabans fail to prevent loyalanon and 412nv Yaken's ganks, they were unable to erase our Agents' legacies. The miners and haulers and bot-aspirants of highsec have no choice but to live with the lasting effects of our Agents' dazzling careers.

And each day, the elite army that loyalanon and 412nv Yaken helped to build continues to grow in strength and numbers.

Because, as they taught us, the CODE always wins.

Always.

  1. Hmmm, wonder what other rumors are true?

Can the rest of CODE pick up the slack after so much turmoil in CODE and Goons? Will the mighty rise to the top or merely fade away? Either way, you have always written a great blog that brought me a lot of laughs as well as many a head shake with some of your kills mining/transport ship fits. Wish you luck in your next venture!

    5. Well now, I have it on good authority that the REAL reason why Loyalanon was banned was because he was smacktalking in the B4R channel in-game.

The channel, Broadcast 4 Reps, is a suicide/harm prevention inititive where players can go to talk about their real life issues without judgement. Due to the nature of the channel, everything that anyone says must be taken seriously. Apparently, CCP comes down HARD on anyone who abuses this channel.

He won't be coming back from that. So James 315, try and spin that.

  10. Ironically, they were banned for running multi-box bot gank fleets. They were reported by one of their own that recently left. I hope more permanent-bans follow. It's one thing to gank AFKers and not miners (I applaud it) it's another to run your own bots simply to grief as many people as possible, while claiming to be combating not runners. Gankers failed so hard.

All I'll say is AG has infiltrated your ranks, we have a number of people helping us now, and it's all thanks to certain egos getting too big.

Here's the chat log that began the discussion about getting CCP to ban Loyal...

[ 2016.03.31 03:30:49 ] Zopiclone > Basically if you see ZULA hes running 8-10 accounts... the kusions are about 12 accounts... Loyal is about 4-5 accounts... Bob is about 12 accounts....
      [ 2016.03.31 03:31:14 ] Zopiclone > Globby is about 8 accounts....

I'd say if you guys haven't stopped botting yet, you might want to stop now.

    4. Actually, it's too late now. CCP has the logs. If they blew a hole in Loyalamoron's ass, then they are going after everyone else as well. I wonder how many people from CCP actually follow these forums?

      Delete
    5. The logs quoted indicate a great deal of multiboxing... Which is well known. Kusion and Siggy each had a large number of accounts, to my knowledge. Multiboxing is not a violation of the EULA - using input automation is. Do you have any logs that point to abusing input automation?

      Delete
    6. For the record, I had around 7-8 accounts at one point. Was thinking about putting them all in tech1 catalysts and calling it GhettoFleet, but got too bored of the game before I tried it.

      Delete
    7. How does one control 10 accounts at once, target and active modules simultaneously in order to gank someone without broadcasting commands to multiple accounts simultaneously (aka automated input)?

      Delete
    8. Doesn't Kusion make videos of exactly how he does this?

      -Galaxy Pig

      Delete
    9. Here's the issue from a developer's standpoint...

If he and others were multi-boxing with input automation, CCP can easily see that in the logs. Hit one button and all 10 accounts register the same input within milliseconds of each other. Doing it manually with a mouse takes time. If Loyalamoron was doing input automation, then the ban is justly deserved. With CCP's cash flow issues, they are not going to ban someone with 10 accounts unless they are doing something wrong.

It won't matter if they detect the automation software or not. The fact that they see in their logs 10 accounts owned by one person with correlated input that no human can manage, that's evidence enough that CCP can use as justification to permanently ban all 10 accounts.

And now we see CODEdot laid to bare for all to see. They are targeting autopiloters and botters in the name of championing the delusion of James 315 and his so called code, but now we find out they are botters themselves. If it is true, then these code agents got caught red handed and no amount of spin that Jimmy Boy 315, the father of the botnet, can do to change these facts. Pot, meet kettle.

Hypocrites, the whole lot of them.

    10. Isn't this much more likely to be the result of a miscalculation by CCP?

For my money, the failure of the recent freighter EHP buff to end CODE.'s dominance of the Trade Hub pipes is a much more likely candidate.

I know the buff was applied to all ships, but I do believe that was a smoke screen, applied to disguise its true intention.

loyalanon responded to the move by CCP in typically 'adapt or die' fashion - by simply coralling more cats to the cause. There was and is no way for devs to prevent mass freighter-ganking without showing their hand.

So, stumped by CODE.'s reaction, they decided to remove the head, thereby hoping to incapacitate the body. Perhaps there was even an attempt to blur all this by including loyalanon's long-time EVE-pal 412nv Yaken in the ban-splat?.

Given this, it's my belief that CCP's intentions regarding The New Order haven't changed. They don't wish to eliminate us, but to control us.

After all, 'CCP' does stand for 'Crowd Control Productions', does it not?

      Delete
    11. Not a miscalculation. I talked to some people who said they petitioned him for trolling the B4R channel in game. You go into that channel, and in bold red letters it says "Selling of plex, ...., scamming, trolling, and just being a dick in this channel will get you permabanned." They said he was trolling the channel. It is heavily moderated.

    13. Hi Anon 2:38,

If the people to whom you spoke were telling the truth about loyalanon's alleged activity and their claim to have petitioned him for it, I'm indebted to you for the information.

However, I still believe that CCP gravely miscalculated in buffing EHP as a trade-off for the passivity of the DCU.

And, of course, your take on the situation doesn't explain 412nv Yaken's dismissal from the game.

No public company could behave in the way we've seen CCP hf doing hitherto. That's why they maintain their private status, I guess.

In answer to all the questions about why such-and-such a person has been permabanned or why unpopular and unnecessary changes to the game are driven through regardless of the opinions of some of our most knowledgeable players, I can almost hear the raucous chorus of voices from the boardroom:

      "Because we can!"

The question is: *are* they activating modules simultaneously? Kusion has posted videos of himself alt-tabbing through his large number of clients. For myself, I set up a custom ISBoxer window layout, but still issued individual commands to each individual client.

      Shrug.

One of the people in the AG channel flat said that YOU were trolling in the B4R channel in violation of the rules and he/she flat admitted that he petitioned you over it. I also noticed that you changed the executor of the CODEdot alliance over to Sasha before the ban took place, so that whole retiring from EvE thing was just some spin. It made for good reading though.

    2. I trust you will agree then that CCP should also remove every EULA violating miner from EVE as well? CCP have a capricious history of banning specific groups of players, and those who feel they have benefited from Loyal joining the ranks of the 'Permabanned Heroes of the Code' should be wary of their own in-game behaviour.

The later frequently involves real-life death threats and other hate mail, much of which has been recorded on this website for the past 4 years. To any neutral observer, these sort of communications would be far more reprehensible than the loss of an imaginary spaceship.

Whilst my characters activities would be made slightly easier if a certain handful of players were to be banned, I would not want this to happen. Your list of players who should in your view be banned, ending in "etc", is vague at best, and I suspect the product of your inability to compete with more dedicated players.

      Delete
    3. I'm not against AFK mining. I AFK mine alot myself. But I am against bot mining. I think people who run bots should be given a two week ban as a warning and then the boot for repeat offenses.

The other thing however is the death threats. If there is any truth to the screenshots that have been posted on here over the years, then CCP should be handing out week long bans for the first offense, 2 weeks for the second, 30 days for the third, and permaban beyond that.

My reasoning is that a death threat in game is nothing. I view it as an expression of emotion from one player to another. Under normal circumstances, the individual probably wouldn't even bother with it. Plus, you have to look at the likelihood of such a threat being carried out. A few misspoken (mistyped) words in anger on a game such as this really doesn't matter. Botting on the other hand, that can potentially (and does) degrade game server performance for everyone on a node by chewing up processor bandwidth, hence the stiffer penalties for botting.

      Delete
    4. BM - You are the personification of what is wrong with the world. "My reasoning is that a death threat in game is nothing." That right there is so messed up. Anyone who uses real life death threats when losing some space pixels or something similar, should stop playing a see a therapist. You disgust me.

      Delete
    5. Ok...then by your logic...you must think a death threat miner can

a: locate you in the world,

b: afford the travel to reach you,

c: have the patience to follow you for months yo find a time you are vunerable

d: obtain a weapon or unarmed fighting skills to make good on their threat and

e: do all this without raising red flags in law enforcement.

chances of such a threat being carried out is, while not impossible is millions, perhaps billions to one...you are more likely tob e struck by lightning 5 times in a row in a week

      Delete
  17. I would rather assume CCP wholeheartedly supports the gankers as they are banned as soon as they quit ganking.

On the other hand I'm pretty sure they know why the hammer came down. It will have nothing to do with this site or their code enforcing activities.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Whether or not they were banned for code affiliation or activity, not listing the reason is just a other in a long line of douchy CCP behaviors. For instance: their policy of forbiding you from posting what moderators tell you in game in order to leave rules deliberately fuzzy, or the farce that the CSM has become.

      Delete
    2. Well, if you are permanently banned and don't plan on coming back, you can post it. What are they going to do? What can they do? You are no longer in the game, so it doesn't matter if you violate their EULA and TOS or not.

      Delete
    3. BM is correct. This is surely why reasons for bans are deliberately either vague or absent. It prevents close scrutiny of CCP decisions by people who are no longer subject to the EULA/ToS.

      Delete
    4. Of course, getting that information 'out there' via a non-EVE related site is difficult. The owner of any such site publishing the material would be in trouble if he/she were still within CCP's reach.

In RL, dismissal is often seen by managers as a waste of the time and money you've invested in the employee. Disciplinary codes should be used to encourage conformity to a standard, and not as vengeance/punishment.

Perhaps in this - as in much else - CCP hf is using what would be regarded in some circles as an outdated and demonstrably inefficient management model.

loyalanon and 412nv Yaken were not employees though. It's one thing to treat employees this way, but when you do it to paying customers..

What is one to make of a company which describes its video game product as 'player-driven', but in which the heavy hand of censorship is ever-present?

  25. Butthurt miner has some nerve calling CODE "sociopaths, psychopaths, etc.."

I remember his posts from not too long ago about rape, murder and suicide. He would write some of the nastiest things in these comments, and then try to play it off as trolling.

    Pot/kettle shit i guess. What a fag.

'carebears united' made me laugh tho.

But still, ag is just a bunch of hypocrites.

  26. Um, who is loyalanon?

  27. I may have given that silly australian a lot of shit, but by god is was a damned honor and a pleasure to fly with him.

Because of loyalanon, I get to say that I ganked jump freighters with EVE's #1 PvPer of all time.

    I was there.

  28. Also, seeing as how it's trivially easy to circumvent a permaban and start a new account, if loyal and 412 do indeed stay banned, it is by their own choice, and therefore truly a retirement.

(Sorry carebears, DJ still plays, here's a tissue.)

Also, whatever he does the fact that loyal was permabanned will remain. A win for the good guys, forever :P

  30. Come on man... that excuse... "Oh, your here to fire me... well you can't cause I quit". I am sorry it came down to that. I did respect ya on how you got people motivated and got people organized, was impressive. But, from my perspective, you just ran away with an ego thinking you could say/do what ever you wanted, no matter what, people in the CODE ranks also found it distasteful, but you apparently disregarded them even. People only put up with that crude hurtful talk for a while before something happens. You even taunted in local that "your still here". Well, good luck on "retirement".

    1. sounds like loyalanon wasn't liked at all in game and turned out to be a troll on comms too. what a noob. died in JITA in a golden POD with all of his implants. probably autopiloting. also looks like he could only muster up 4 billion isk to code after he was robbed right before he imploded. what a knockout win for anti-ganking.

    2. Antiganking is a fucked up channel filled with pussies that don't have the stones to fight CODE. That is cause CODE ALWAYS WINS, ALWAYS. Antiganking did not win because they never did what is necessary. If anyone is killing the games, its AG, not CODE. AG wants to protect all the bot-aspirants who want to mine in peace. Well, tough shit, cause imma just keep on ganking, but this time I am not doing it for CODE, I am doing it for Loyalanon. So that I can honor his memory. PRAISE JAMES 315...

    3. 2nd Anon - This has nothing to do with the act of Ganking, so everything you said means zero. Ganking is part of the game, cat and mouse. The concept of being ganked is great, not 100% safe anywhere. If just ganking someone got ya banned, it would boring and you would be right. But, it's not.

Ganking will continue, just by others. This conversation is about attitude, and respect for people, in/out of game (maybe for other reasons i am unaware of as well). It goes WAY beyond name calling or other petty childish actions.

I have respect for a number of Codies, and have chatted with them, you can be respectful and be on a 2nd side of a coin. Sure some smack talk is fun! I get taunted of not making ISK, and I say its about the fun... Its all good fun! Its is what makes me want to undock and play!

  31. I think its totally moronic to ban someone like that just for ganking the same time that little bitch shittani is still allowed to play after he asked in public his audience to make someone suicide...

That is my opion on the matter, except if ccp knows something that we dont and its really really bad...

So if shittani is still allowed to play those 2 guys should have their permabans lifted too.

  38. Goonswarm Federation is dying, their plan to kill everyone in high sec and drive them to 0.0, has failed utterly. GSF dug it's own grave, by creating so many enemies, that everyone...everyone everywhere, was more than happy to pile on and murder them when they got weak. GSF has the Mittani to thank for their losses, their humiliation, their allies demises, and now this. The last element of GSF with any significance, CODE., is now a laughing stock of the eve community, as they continue to be blind to the writing on the wall, that their time of driving players out of eve-online, and preventing new players from joining and keeping the game alive, through mindless destruction, is now over. Good Riddance to GSF and their CODE. alts.

    1. There is more to come. You don't think that those of us throwing isk in to kill goons have a blind eye to code do you? Goons are dieing, code will be next up on the menu. Managing to get rid of loyal and his cohorts before we turn on code is just a bonus. Fun times are coming, and the tears from code will be nearly as good as what goons are feeding us right now.

  39. "I don't care if you ban me, i was retiring anyway."

Whatever the way CODE is trying to spin in, it really is similar to the old "I didn't need that mining ship anyway" they loved to hear from butthurt miners.

Loyalanon was quite an arsehole... but, damnit, he was THE arsehole everyone loved to hate. So, everyone, please raise your glass to the man.
