Highsec Miner Grab Bag #63

Who is James 315? The Saviour of Highsec, that's who. I believe that answers your question.

Two ways of increasing the Code-compliance ratio: Increase the number of permit-holding miners, and decrease the number of bot-aspirant miners. The New Order is proficient at doing both.

Agent Arden Elenduil does fast work. He wardecced a corp and killed one of their Ravens. The Raven pilot was kicked from the corp within minutes!

If you read the most recent shareholder update, you know arteran thrias athrian has since changed his ways and joined the New Order. The Code can have a dramatic effect on a person--and usually does.

Even a quiet system (only 14 in local) can become a source of vibrant conversation when an Agent of the New Order comes calling. We breathe life into highsec wherever we go.

Our Agents come from very diverse backgrounds. Now more than ever, we know that we can't be consumed by our petty, superficial differences. We must be united in our common interest.

Enemies of the New Order, by contrast, are mostly all the same. They speak the language of Miner Bingo. However, they do occasionally take surprising points of view. For instance, while carebears like to call us terrorists, not all carebears are anti-terrorist:
Kelaian Stareine > James 315 has saved him from a life of bot aspirancy
Kelaian Stareine > His will be done
Nyasa Sharisa > fuck your god
Nyasa Sharisa > gives me a reason to root for ISIL in RL =D YAY
loyalanon > Are you comparing a real life terrorist group to the actions performed by someone in a video game
Nyasa Sharisa > you pushing your christian agenda why not?
All of this silly quarreling will stop once every man, woman, and child in highsec follows the same leader and the same Code.

I find it puzzling when carebears accuse us of "harvesting tears". Keep your tears. We'll take your 10 million isk and (sincere) pledge of loyalty instead.

Not to make light of Ipaalon Noud's concerns, but I want to point out that she came up with a completely new excuse for AFK mining: "I briefly died."

I was so touched by Ipaalon's petition that I did her the increasingly-rare honour of writing back (I get a lot of mail):

Among my many duties as ruler of highsec: troubleshooter. Coming up with solutions that work for everyone is second nature to me.

If you're fatigued, log off and get a proper night's sleep. Our Agents will be waiting to accept your 10 million isk in the morning.

Freedom. This what the Code is all about. Freedom, freedom, freedom. Sometimes it takes a good gank to realize that.

Oh, I see you have illegal mining equipment. I'm sorry, but you lose the bonus round.
I said total faith. Faith in me, faith in the Code.

Just because you posted anonymously doesn't mean your comment had to be shit; so what's your excuse?

  3. James 315 is the Savior of HighSec, and Saif al-Islam al-Jawahiri is his prophet.
His fatwas are holy, his crusade against the carebear is just. Repent highsec! Accept James 315 as your savior and follow the Code and be saved from the death and destruction that hangs above you like a sword.

  4. ARE YOU AWARE THAT WHENEVER I GET A PACKAGE OF PLAIN M&MS, I MAKE IT MY DUTY TO CONTINUE THE STRENGTH AND ROBUSTNESS OF THE CANDY AS A SPECIES? TO THIS END, I HOLD M&M DUELS.

TAKING TWO CANDIES BETWEEN MY THUMB AND FOREFINGER, I APPLY PRESSURE, SQUEEZING THEM TOGETHER UNTIL ONE OF THEM CRACKS AND SPLINTERS. THAT IS THE “LOSER,” AND I EAT THE INFERIOR ONE IMMEDIATELY. THE WINNER GETS TO GO ANOTHER ROUND.

I HAVE FOUND THAT, IN GENERAL, THE BROWN AND RED M&MS ARE TOUGHER, AND THE NEWER BLUE ONES ARE GENETICALLY INFERIOR. I HAVE HYPOTHESIZED THAT THE BLUE M&MS AS A RACE CANNOT SURVIVE LONG IN THE INTENSE THEATER OF COMPETITION THAT IS THE MODERN CANDY AND SNACK-FOOD WORLD. GREENS ARE SET ASIDE IN A BRANDY SNIFTER, BOTH IN HOMAGE TO ROCKERS OF OLD, AND FOR SMALL AMOUNTS OF SELF INDULGENCE AS THE CHAMPIONSHIP IS UNDERWAY.

OCCASIONALLY I WILL GET A MUTATION, A CANDY THAT IS MISSHAPEN, OR POINTIER, OR FLATTER THAN THE REST. ALMOST INVARIABLY THIS PROVES TO BE A WEAKNESS, BUT ON VERY RARE OCCASIONS IT GIVES THE CANDY EXTRA STRENGTH. IN THIS WAY, THE SPECIES CONTINUES TO ADAPT TO ITS ENVIRONMENT.

WHEN I REACH THE END OF THE PACK, I AM LEFT WITH ONE M&M, THE STRONGEST OF THE HERD. SINCE IT WOULD MAKE NO SENSE TO EAT THIS ONE AS WELL, I PACK IT NEATLY IN AN ENVELOPE AND SEND IT TO M&M MARS, A DIVISION OF MARS, INC., HACKETTSTOWN, NJ 17840-1503 U.S.A., ALONG WITH A 3×5 CARD READING, “PLEASE USE THIS M&M FOR BREEDING PURPOSES.”

THIS WEEK THEY WROTE BACK TO THANK ME, AND SENT ME A COUPON FOR A FREE 1/2 POUND BAG OF PLAIN M&MS. I CONSIDER THIS “GRANT MONEY.” I HAVE SET ASIDE THE WEEKEND FOR A GRAND TOURNAMENT. FROM A FIELD OF HUNDREDS, WE WILL DISCOVER THE TRUE CHAMPION.

    THERE CAN BE ONLY ONE.

    3. Breaking news: caps lock enthusiasts judge candy by strength, instead of flavor. One is tempted to generalize from this and conclude that they don't know what anything is for. More testing is needed . I have contacted mars inc to obtain an entire bag of caps lock enthusiasts for this purpose .

  5. Such an inspiring post! I am reminded:

    War is Peace
Our war against bot-aspirancy increases the peace enjoyed by those no longer crushing their souls in such activity . . . errr, inactivity.

    Freedom is Slavery
Freedom from the Code proves to lead to many enslaving themselves in bot-aspirancy.

    Ignorance is Strength
Intentional ignorance not of things worthy to know but of things unworthy to know, such as the seductive and easy path of bot-aspirancy, contributes to our strength in following, upholding, and enforcing the Code.

A better New Eden is happening every day.

  9. If you like being/playing a bully in a video game, you like this type of behavior in real life. Whether you act out on it in real life is another issue. However, the tendency and traits are all present in the individual.

Hide behind 'it's a video game' or 'more carebear tears wah wah' all you want; but this is an utter fact.

That being said, I don't know what it says about me that I enjoy reading this blog every day. I haven't played Eve in years - but there is definitely some morbid curiosity on reading the events of the CODE. I liken it to the same curiosity of wanting to see a car crash.

    2. Very true-
And it doesn't just apply to bullying either- kill someone in a video game and it is PROOF that you have all the tendency and traits to kill people in REAL LIFE.

All video game players who have killed another player should be locked up for RL murder!

    3. Arch: "I don't know what it says about me that I enjoy reading this blog every day. I haven't played Eve in years . . ."

It says you were starved for content before the Code, and good content finally was created and brought to you by the Code.

    4. Very true Arch.

In real life I work at NASA, and I'm always taking out the office spaceship and blowing up non human aliens peacefully mining ore in far away galaxies.

I get in so much trouble with my boss, he calls me a psychopath & I'm really just out to have some fun. Go figure??!?

  11. As James points out it is the right of every player who so chooses to live outside the bounds of the code. They simply have to head to Low/Nullsec or W space. The code is not for everyone and this is accepted by James. However by the very act of making a living in Hisec you are consenting to live by the code.

  12. The comment about racketeering being a crime in real life is dumb... So is killing people, but care bear mission runners are happy to kill npcs by the thousand.

    ITS A GAME!

If you win at chess or monopoly did that make you a bully or murderer in real life? Of course not, so why should it be different with EVE?
