The Martyrs of Highsec #2

It was a morning like any other--calm, quiet, and ideal for punishing Code violators. A group of Agents did a little practice PvP in lowsec to sharpen their skills for the elite highsec combat that made them famous. Then, out of the clear blue, one of them was banned. Then another. This was no coincidence. Reports kept coming in of New Order Agents being banned. Confusion reigned throughout the day, but there was no mistaking that a coordinated ban wave had taken place. The fearful and unprovoked act inspired widespread outrage.

The events of September 10th were an unprecedented tragedy. Yet there were those who celebrated the loss of EVE life. Extremist carebears were seen dancing in the subreddits. The New Order has always had its enemies, but it was shocking to see bot-aspirants cheer the permabanning of innocents.

Why do they hate us? They hate what they see right here on MinerBumping: Emergent gameplay and content creation. They hate our freedoms: Our freedom to suicide gank, our freedom to wardec, to bump and awox and aggression-game, our freedom to scam in Jita and all across highsec.

To the forces of carebearism, the New Order stands as the most powerful force for freedom in EVE. We hold them back, lest they plunge our beloved game into the darkness of a risk-free theme park. The New Order will continue to fight, and will always remember those who have fallen in the defense of the true spirit of EVE.

D400

When carebears want to scare each other at Halloween, they share stories about D400. He inspires dread among the rebels of highsec.

At a time when "solo PvP" more closely resembles "small gang PvP", D400 proved the power of the individual ganker. He has been called The Greatest Solo PvPer Ever.

D400, acting on his own, routinely inflicted more damage than entire nullsec alliances. He loved popping pods. He knew implants are not something to be taken for granted. In a single month, D400 destroyed 399 pods. Hundreds of his Thrashers were sacrificed, but he was always willing to give up more.

For his contributions, D400 received the rarest of honours: A personalized, signed portrait of me. He can't play EVE anymore, but he has the consolation of knowing he already won the game.

JERRY RIN

If you woke up one morning and discovered your corp's new CEO was Jerry Rin, someone probably made a terrible mistake.

Jerry loved all forms of highsec PvP. Ganker, awoxer, scammer... He did it all.

In one of his most famous triumphs, Jerry helped smash the Damned Defeat corporation after a daring awox. He continued to suicide gank under the "Damned Defeat" corp name for months to come.

Some people say he was a sociopath. That he had to be removed from the EVE community. But the Jerry I knew was a man of extraordinary personal integrity. Through all of his corp infiltrations and sabotages, he never forgot who he was. And none of his friends will forget who he was, either: The scammer with a heart of gold.

  1. Our catalysts shall be emblazoned with the names of our fallen comrades. Every asteroid belt in New Order territory (formerly Carebearistan) will see the names Jerry Rin and D400 as a reminder to the Carebear Taliban (aka Al Qarbare) that while a New Order agent may fall, the New Order goes on and thrives.

  2. D400 stood at the pinnacle of elite highsec PVP. If you lost a pod while autopiloting through highsec, chances were that D400 or somebody he trained killed your pod.

D400's selfless commitment to the cause always amazed me. The way he would share his knowledge with fellow agents made him an asset to the New Order, and thus, an asset to highsec. All of us, from the raucous carebears of highsec, to the honest doublers of Jita, owe D400, a quiet warrior, a great debt.

Jerry Rin is one of the greatest awoxers in the history of EVE. Jerry (or, Arnold, as his close friends know him), is the best of the best. Beyond his incredible metagaming skills, he is a quick study in all things elite PVP -- whether gatecamping with D400 or freighter ganking with Loyalanon and company. Jerry Rin had more medals than I ever bothered to count. He earned every one of them. He told me so himself.

Within his own community, Jerry Rin was widely revered for his adherence to an uncompromising moral code. He was banned for doing what he loved. #Dominating

    2. I agree with me, but I strongly oppose to why D400 was banned specifically. Banned for doing PvP in High Sec? Clearly Eve is steering from its own ideology.

He was my favourite agent; a silent yet strong warrior. he did not do Elite PvP....he WAS Elite PvP in its purest form. A single man with greater combat prowess than most Alliances is to be commended, not shunned.

But alas, as James 315 said, ban or no ban, he will be remembered as the player who won Eve Online.

Wait until you see what happens next.

      Delete
    9. Yes, because you knew petitioning would be useless. Maybe if you weren't a despicable bonus room harasser you would still be playing the game.

      Delete
    10. Why would I petition my ban? It's great. I'd like another. It would mean I had once again stepped over the magical shifting line (or did it move past me?). In any case, I always find it amusing when bans are used as a public relations tool, especially when they are giftwrapped in some bizarre form of Icelandic moral universalism, as has been the case recently. I really do find that sort of thing amusing.

For the record, I am the guy that found the game by clicking on the "Be the villain" banner advertisement. I'm not actually a bad guy. But I do play one in Eve. Too well, perhaps.

      Admit I'm great at Eve.

  15. Anyone who plays Eve for mining or PvE is really special. I've done both and found both to be so dull and boring, the only reason to do it was with a great group of people, but even that doesn't last long as they get bored or do it while semi-afk.

I've stopped playing Eve over the last few weeks I really did try to get back in to it, but it's the same no matter who you fly with.

Now that CCP wants to nerf and increase the work of the logistic players it's not a game it's a second job - for some people a seemingly full time job ensuring everything is in the right place at the right time and not fun once it's there.

For those that read MB.com who enjoy shooting rocks or red crosses all day - Well done, I guess you'll continue to play your MMO in the style of a single player game, just like you've always wanted.

Eve isn't dying though it is suffering from a death by a thousand cuts, mostly inflicted by CCP' choices these last few months, and by the next patch it will be even easier to justify living in high sec, rather than null with the jump range changes.

    1. Good - more gameplay in highsec is excellent. Personally I would get rid of nullsec entirely and just have high and low, with the most of the action in high. I like the idea of a police force, and the concepts of law and order. There is no reason that Goons and PL can't operate in that kind of system, just like CODE and everyone else does. Nerfing JFs and getting everyone to move to highsec is wonderful for the game.

This blog has 48 hours to remove all references to my name, or else I'll be forced to file subpoenas for IP addresses and identifying information from Google, pursuant to a defamation and harassment lawsuit.

Since Google is headquartered in California, they fall under California Penal Code §646.9, which states:(a) Any person who willfully, maliciously, and repeatedly
follows or willfully and maliciously harasses another person and who
makes a credible threat with the intent to place that person in
reasonable fear for his or her safety, or the safety of his or her
immediate family is guilty of the crime of stalking, punishable by
imprisonment in a county jail for not more than one year, or by a
fine of not more than one thousand dollars ($1,000), or by both that
fine and imprisonment, or by imprisonment in the state prison.
      (e) For the purposes of this section, "harasses" means engages in
a knowing and willful course of conduct directed at a specific person
that seriously alarms, annoys, torments, or terrorizes the person,
and that serves no legitimate purpose.
