The Martyrs of Highsec #1

You know, there's a lot of hate circulating around EVE these days. An atmosphere of nastiness has taken hold. Everyone's trashing each other, bathing in the blood of the permabanned, and a lot of nonsense like that. The New Order is the antidote. We care about people. We've even taken an interest in the most overlooked class of EVE player, the AFK carebears of highsec.

We're the exception. Today, people don't seem to care about anything that doesn't affect them directly. Whenever anyone departs the EVE community, the most commonly heard phrase is, "And nothing of value was lost." Goon leader The Mittani has more fans than anyone else in EVE. He also has more enemies than anyone else, and he has more enemies than fans. If he were banned, most players would declare a holiday. SOMER Blink was by far the most popular player-run business in the history of EVE, with countless thousands of clients. They offered barely a word in support of SOMER's founder when he was burned at the stake. I tell you the truth, if Chribba himself were banned tomorrow, it wouldn't be long before the hate came bubbling to the surface...

"I never knew what was supposed to be so great about that guy anyway."
"Can I have his stuff?"
"Wasn't that the weirdo with the Veldspar tattoo and the phone number in his bio and all the alts named after actresses?"
"Good, now I can scam supercap sales."
"Chribba who?"

I hold to an unpopular belief, that whenever a content creator leaves us, something of value is lost. Maybe only those who directly interacted with the former player will take notice. So be it. This means we have a special obligation to remember the fallen among us.

This is the first edition of The Martyrs of Highsec.

EROTICA 1

Who can forget Erotica 1, the most accomplished isk doubler in the history of EVE?

Many have doubled isk, and many more will double isk in the future. Jita may have thousands of players packed into local, but there's one player missing. Erotica was permabanned. An official reason was never given. But we know what she did: She made our eyes sparkle. She was guilty of raising smiles all across highsec.

She also raised funds for the New Order. She was the first shareholder ever to receive a Duodecuple Supreme Protector's Tip of the Hat™, for her contribution of 12 billion isk to the Treasury. More importantly, she got a party hat.

Including the shares purchased in her name, Erotica raised over 65 billion isk for the New Order's gankers. At a rate of 10:1, well over half a trillion isk worth of bot-aspirancy was demolished. Even as the hour of her execution approached, Erotica was thinking of others. A day before her permaban, she sent the remaining contents of her wallet, 39 billion isk, to the New Order. She received a Triple-Tredecuple Supreme Protector's Tip of the Hat™ and the gratitude of gankers everywhere.

Some may call her a thief, a liar, a scammer and a knave. I was proud to call her an Agent of the New Order of Highsec. She never told me anything but the truth. And I am absolutely confident that if she invited me to her TeamSpeak channel, she wouldn't have subjected me to extraordinary levels of real-life harassment.

Erotica 1 firmly believed in the value of scammers in EVE. She also felt that a Bonus Round should only end when the "client" said so. Unlike some, Erotica was passionate about transparency, and made audio recordings of her activities freely available for audit by the masses. She was always ready to make the ultimate sacrifice for her beliefs.

FIGHTER JETS GUITARSOLO

Fighter Jets GuitarSolo had an extraordinary name. It still gets players amped up and ready to rock 'n' roll.

Everyone believed CCP when they told us that scamming was 100% permitted in EVE. If so, then the Bonus Round's "scam" components were allowed, as long as a Bonus Round did not lead to real-life harassment. Fighter Jets took CCP at their word.

Fighter Jets carried the torch for her friend and comrade. It was an act of extraordinary courage and heroism. It also led to her permaban. Like Jimi Hendrix, she was taken away from us so young. She was in her prime.

During her brief life in highsec, Fighter Jets found time for acts of Code enforcement. Her alt assisted in the awox and acquistion of Damned Defeat corporation.

Fighter Jets wouldn't let EVE players forget the Bonus Round. We didn't. Nor will we ever forget Fighter Jets GuitarSolo, and the melodies she played for us.

    2. Actually, it's not the same guy. If you've ever listened to the "infamous" bonus room for which Erotica1 was banned, you hear E1 address "Jets" by name at least twice. Jets was a true believer in the way E1 ran her business. Jets decided that the business wasn't wrong, and maybe the Bonus Room could be made more contestant-friendly. Unfortunately, as a result of many carebear tears and negative press, Jets was banned as well.

    3. However: more dickhead alts banned, more ganker tears, that carebear voice care heavier in CCPs mind than theirs.

I don't derive joy from carebear misery. It saddens me that carebears are as habitually miserable and selfish as they are. It's why I support minerbumping and ganking in general, as an effort to break carebears out of their narrow, isk-centric mentality and save them from themselves. If I gank you, it's not to make you unhappy, but because I care.

I don't want you to be unhappy. Do you still want unhappiness for me and mine?

    7. Your efforts are noble Maria, but wasted. Most of the haters that comment most likely don't even play anymore, and if they do they will never "get it".

Let them hate, let them spew, let them cry, and let them bitch. Their emotions mean absolutely nothing to me. I don't care if they are happy, sad, angry, or depressed. They are targets to be hunted. Nothing more. If they ASK for a permit, I will sell them one and consider them "off season" for a year... otherwise it's fair game. It's not up to us to make sure the are compliant... that's their responsibility.

So... anything other than a request for a permit is pointless jibber jabber and should be treated as such, because trying to reason with these people or enjoy the game with them as it should be is impossible. You would have more luck discussing the nature of gravity with a pineapple.

    8. To be fair, I will say this... there are a very few, and I mean FEW that get it. I tried and failed a gank yesterday... I had just fitted T2 guns to my cat and wanted to check the DPS difference. Found a special edition mack in a field, I did not think I had a real chance but went for it anyway because... why not?
I almost had him! Well into structure when Concord showed up and blew my ass away.

We chatted afterwards and he was cool about the whole thing... he was not paying attention while watching TV... caught him by surprise. He even admitted it was a near thing! He even offered to give me the drops from my wreak, but I told him to the victor goes the spoils.
We shared a couple of LOL's and I gave him a piece of free advice about being watching his ass while CODE was around and double checking his fits.

All in all an enjoyable experience. Not that it will stop me from ganking him again and I told him so. Unfortunately, he was the exception rather than the rule. Ganking is a game. Predator vs. prey. Hunter vs. the hunted.

Or should we realize that these people having these "breakdowns" aren't operating at normal levels themselves, if in fact they allow something like EVE to give them a "breakdown"?

And CCP agrees with my view of the events, not with yours. For your shameful conduct you have quite properly been banned. Maybe it's time for some reflection on your part? An apology perhaps, and a new beginning?

To my buddy Anon - generally it comes down to uncontrolled rage, which is what CODE tries to elicit. We rightly don't care about rage due to valid in game events. What CCP has rightly cracked down is using the game to specifically bait someone into rage. Blowing up ships? Fine. Stealing money? Fine. Getting someone on TS to anger and humiliate them for no in game benefit? Not fine.

I personally found the Sokar bonus round rather disturbing and wanted the activity reigned in. This does not mean that I was against the bonus rounds though. I was an active participant in a community scam attempt, something that as far as I know is unique in Eve's history.

The thing that I can't figure out is what makes this scam so much worse in the eyes of the community than some of the awoxes and ransoms that have not been honored throughout the years. This deserved a warning, not multiple permanent bans. CCP needs to get their act together and stop throwing around the ban hammer without explanation.

  47. It was a big enough deal to get these CODE members banhammered pretty hard. I will say the dude could of been smart enough to completely avoid this horrible scam but the way it went is what caused the bans to occur. You guys are praising bullying here. They dangled all of his belongings in the air trying to make him jump like a cat playing with a toy. If you don't see a problem with this you're a horrible human being. I'm happy these people were removed from this game and hopefully forever.

  48. "Ganking is a game. Predator vs. prey. Hunter vs. the hunted." Totally agree, I support the New Order.I know that I am the prey but I'm not a stupid carebear, I never autopilot and never sacrifice tank for yield, I will however go afk once in a while (hardly ever) to take a piss or put on a load of laundry or something, but I understand the risk I'm taking. All my ships I put a lot of effort into its defenses, Agents have tryed and failed once so far to bring down my Mack. 2 cats could not take it down, I enjoy my role as the pray and am always trying to stay one step ahead with better and better fits. With out risk I would not enjoy the game, I am probably one of the only "carebears" that are willing to still ninja mine in null with a prospect not for profit but for the rush of it. I will not purchase a permit for 2 reasons, 1. My mining corp is against the New Order and would think i'm an awoxer and 2. I don't want protection, like I stated before I enjoy the rush of being hunted. I sometimes go as far as mining as deep in your territory as possible. But since I do support the new order I may donate some isk using an alt. Also I would like to point out that there are a bunch of ice miners in the Osmon and Wuos area that need guidance, sure I've seen some agents here and there but New order activity needs to be increased in that area in my opinion. So from now on I will be splitting my isk 3 ways evenly, fueling my corps pos, bettering my fits, and donating to the new order with an alt. My Alt/Spy goes by the in game name Jerry 5ever Wilson
