Resistance Is Futile

This is the kind of question I like to be able to ask when I log in. An Orca was killed, along with his pod, in the Kamio system.

OneLight Wiley, the unfortunate pilot, provided us all with a lesson on the new aggression mechanics of crimewatch. When our gankers attacked a Hulk, OneLight tried to help the Hulk by repairing his shields. However, interceding in combat like this caused OneLight to earn an aggression flag--to everyone. This was the result:

OneLight's effort to help another miner resist the New Order got his own Orca and implants deep-fried. And CCP's new aggression mechanics--designed to make highsec safer--resulted in a victory for the New Order!

Later that day, we rallied a gank fleet. A troublesome Code violator was mining in the Kamio ice field. He was guarded by Commander Kempf. Kempf, an outspoken opponent of the New Order, was in a Rook. It's a recon ship designed to jam other ships. He intended to jam anyone who attacked his mining buddy.

In a shocking twist, our fleet did not attack the miner--we attacked Kempf's Rook instead!

Ah, the egg-shaped pod icon. The universal symbol of success. Kempf wanted to stick his nose in our business, and was shocked when he lost his own ship.

Unlike many tissue-paper Rook fittings, Kempf had not maximized his jamming at the expense of tank. He had considerable EHP, with Damage Control II, an active shield hardener, a Large Shield Extender II, and two shield rigs. But we had enough DPS to melt the busybody's infernal ship.

Let this be a lesson to anyone who tries to help rebel miners. You may be the one to pay the price.

Gladius Codicis captured a video of the glorious gank.

Good stewards of the environment always, we cleared Concord from the ice field.

R0me0 Charl1e stopped by the ice field to scoop modules. He offered me a pair of Kempf's missile launchers as a memento.

Kempf was speechless at first, but eventually got to talking.

As always, our enemies show us why they deserve to be defeated. Thank goodness for the New Order's invincibility!

  1. A max cargo Orca with zero tank, what a surprise.

    1. And no Kempf. CCP buffed the barges because they finally realised that your average miner was too stupid to fit a tank to make ganking them unprofitable.

    2. beg to differ. Macks couldn't been tanked in a reasonable way before patch.

    3. Here's a shocker: They could if you actually tried. The problem is that people still wanted max yield/cargo fits, so the lows & rigs were dedicated for that purpose. To tank them well, you need to dedicate Meds, Lows & rigs to tank. A lot of miners were too greedy, lazy or stupid to do this. CCP acknowledged this & buffed them.

Now here's a real shocker: Miners still aren't tanking their ships in a way that makes ganking them pointless. The only reason that miner ganking overall has reduced is because CCP gave miners buffs that they didn't need because they refused to adapt. As a result of these changes, gankers yet again adapted. Miners are still asking for further buffs to themselves & nerfs to ganking & bumping.

    4. He was perfectly well tanked. He had a Civilian Shield Booster...

  2. Question, when you guys are ganking someone (great job btw) and then someone tries to repair them, do you get free reign on that person or do you still have to blow them up before concord comes?

    1. you will notice, that the orca wasn't ganked by catalysts. Instead the orca received suspect flag by assisting, and got free to attack by everyone. New Order Bumpers done it.

    2. I wasn't present for the Orca kill, but I believe that the Orca pilot had set his Safety switch to Yellow or Red. As soon as suicide gankers attacked the Hulk, the Hulk received a Limited Engagement Flag. When you provide remote assistance to someone with a Limited Engagement Flag, you receive a Suspect Flag.

If the Orca had his Safety switch set to Green, then his remote repairs would have automatically stopped as soon as the Hulk had been fired upon, and he would have avoided a Suspect flag.

  3. I hear the New New Order plans to purge the Old New Order from Kamio. Thoughts?

ATTENTION: New Order ganking squads are operating in the area. To avoid the destruction of your ship and your pod, purchase a year-long mining permit for only 10 million ISK from one of our accommodating agents. See www.minerbumping.com for details.

  5. It's sad you only post what you call a success. You should publish the story of how the kill rights on one of your goons netted me enough cash to afford my Covetor.

Sad I had to lose my Venture for it, but yeah, your goons aren't too bright.

    1. When we suicide gank, we expect to be shot at by disgruntled miners & people who buy kill rights. It's not a failure on our part, it's the cost of doing what we do. Congratulations on your new covetor, how about you post with your character name so that we can come and forcibly remove it from you?

    2. Remember, we didn't give you the money. That bounty fund was put in place by other miners. Their tears paid for your ship.

You should use some of that bounty money to buy permits. We'd love to sell you a permit. When bounty payouts turn into mining permits, the Knights of the New Order rejoice.

    3. Anonymous dude, I personally invite you to come join us on a bumping or ganking venture sometime. You know my name in game, feel free to shoot me an eve-mail.

  6. Your dear leader knows my name, but this streak of failure renders him too ashamed to post it.

And the cost of what you do? In a Venture I actually had to be active, now I can just semi-afk and drag something once every half hour. Yep, sweet failure.

    1. You got an upgraded ship out of losing your Venture, you can of course semi AFK with it, although I wouldn't recommend it. Next time you might not be able to rely on the bounty/kill rights to allow you to purchase a replacement when it inevitably explodes. Like I said previously, bounties being paid for our ships exploding is a cost of doing business, we accept & embrace it. Now please point out where the fail comes into it, we didn't fail, your ship exploded which means that our mission was accomplished.

    2. Nope, it encouraged my carebear mining. And that's why you fail. Granted, I partly rely on the stupidity of my fellow miners, but since they're technically my competitors, I'm glad to see them dead.

Funny thing today, I actually tried to warn another miner when I saw one of you warp in. He didn't believe me. Lucky for me, he was dead when I returned 5 minutes later in my salvager. Another free 15mill for me.

I hope we can stay partners.

    3. lol you've adapted, that's good, it's more than can be said for the majority.

Don't bother to warn the other miners, the more that explode the more iskies you stand to make with your salvager, profiting from explosions is what we're all about, if you can profit to then more power to your elbow :D

    4. If only I didn't have to waste 2 minutes warping in and out every time I saw one of you...

    5. That's easy solved have a frig with salvagers unpiloted at a safe, see us come in, warp to safe, swap ships, and warp back.

    6. Still takes time, time is ISK, and half the time you cowards don't even do anything. Or it's just some idiot bumping and not killing.

I have to make a living here so I can afford my Hulk.

    7. Thing is though, in the end, you are doing exactly what the New Order wants miners to do. You play, you are not AFK, you even adapt (gasp!) to changes in your environment. You are an example of an actual human being piloting his ship, rather than a machine.

      Kudos!

RE the title of the Blog, it’s a massive clue. Keep on salvaging the glorious dead for profit my their frozen bodies forever warm your heart

    9. The New New Order is coming and the belts will be clear for miners once again. You'll be salvaging Catalysts in the next couple days.

    10. You mean the Catalysts that are already there because they suicide gank you genius

    11. I take it you've never seen my bumping skills; they're the top of the crop. Not a single shot fired, either!

Like I said before, come bumping with us. You'll enjoy it!

    12. Every battlefield has its share of vultures, it's normal and accepted. I don't understand your bragging about it. Sure you're getting isk. Ninja salvaging is a long established career. But it's bottom feeding. Don't talk about it, just do it.

Talking about it just makes it seem like you're assuming to take something away from us as some sort of victory. We don't care.

I wouldn't even bother replying in the first place if you didn't mention it every other post.
