Awoxing for the New Order

Given the title of this blog, it's no surprise that bumping miners is a big part of what the New Order stands for. However, as I often say, every punitive measure taken against the rebel miners is a revolutionary act. In a previous post, I presented an example of a New Order Agent infiltrating a corp and blowing up their mining op. Today we return to the art of corp infiltration, otherwise known as "awoxing".

Agent Alana Charen-Teng has been making use of a very helpful game mechanic: You can kill (and pod) members of your own corp/alliance in highsec without Concord interference. There are always highsec industrial corps blindly recruiting people. If you're able to join one, you get the opportunity to kill some Code-violators for free.

Alana joined the same corp as miner Th3 Syndicate and killed his Orca, a very fine use of awoxing. A little history lesson: The term "awoxing" comes from a pilot named Awox, who became notorious for infiltrating corps to spread havoc.

My understanding is that Awox put a couple spins on the tactic, which was designed for operations in nullsec, not highsec. He would have a low-skilled alt infiltrate a corp in nullsec, then use the alt to tackle a coalition member (a "blue" with positive standings, not a fellow corp member). Once pinned down, Awox had his combat main deliver the kill. This also resulted in diplomatic incidents, since any corp in the coalition with a lax recruitment policy would threaten the others.

Thus, the method Awox used can't be done in highsec. But the idea of infiltrating for the sole purpose of shooting fellow corp/alliance members became associated with Awox, and the name stuck.

I was delighted to see that Th3 Syndicate lost his Orca in a 0.8 security system, while mining veldspar. Nowhere in highsec is safe for the enemies of the New Order!

Within moments, our heroic Agent set the rebel miner back 830 million isk. For whatever reason, the rebel failed to escape in his pod. AFK, perhaps?

Ouch! Many highsec Orca pilots have expensive implants. Th3 Syndicate's disobedience cost him an additional 1.2 billion isk when Alana popped his capsule.

Let this be a lesson to all miners. You can pay 10 million isk and join the New Order, or you can potentially lose 2 billion in a shot. The next time you sign up an enthusiastic new recruit, it may just be an Agent of the New Order. You are warned.

    1. How is anything in this post inconsistent with us protecting miners?

  2. All hail the new order. The death of another non-compliant miner is the only way to show the others the path to the light.

    1. So you go from bumping bots, to afker, to atkers, to anyone who just doesn't pay you.

      Real order right there...

    2. Not having a permit to mine is non compliance, the New Order requires all miners to have a permit regardless of keyboard attendance.

    3. Perfect example of needing to dock when going afk.

  3. I do see one problem...brought up by your own Willy Bryan during the arrangement I made to PVP with him (Note...his Away status was due to his location being in or near NYC during hurricane sandy). If your awoxing agents do pod people...even if its accidental...eventually their security status will be too low to operate in highsec. I believe the lowest you can risk before NPC navy harassment is -4.99. Once your status hits -5...you're a viable target.

Note...this is just from my experience of being briefly on the Gallente -5 rating list...I am uncertain how it works if your negative status is due to PVP...I believe it makes you a viable PVP target if you are bountied.

If someone could confirm or correct this theory, I would be grateful

    1. Well he is shooting corp members so he gets absolutely no penalty when killing these ships. Also you security status limits what space you can enter. -2.0 prevents you from flying in 1.0 systems, -2.5 stops you in .9 systems and so on till you get -5 then all police will shoot at you. Also you faction standings will affect which space you can enter.

    2. Thank you...I always wondered how that worked.

  4. It warms the heart to see a rebel lose his prized mindlink, if only he paid up and learned to embrace the New Order.

  5. It is good to see more Agents taking up the cause in a 'behind the scenes' way. Killing their mining fleets is great, but I personally prefere to steal anything that isn't bolted down & use part of the funds to further support the order. Each to his own.

Yes poor miners, all of my shares were purchased using the money I stole from non-compliant miners.

    3. Since there were no Agents of the New Order in the desolate wasteland of Minmatar space, I took it upon myself to represent a just cause. In total, that corp lost about 3300 mil in assets: 1 Orca, 4 Hulks, 1 Retriever, and all associated pods.

The Orca and several Hulks belonged to a multiboxer who was AFK for the entire time I was in corp with him.

An insolent Mackinaw did elude me. I suspected it of being a bot, so I moved a probing Buzzard into system prior to expressing my disagreement with him - mining bots often log off immediately upon being aggressed, and I wanted to probe down the pod after destroying the ship. Scheduled down-time was fast approaching as we argued with each other - I, with the roar of my rage rockets; and he, with the passivity and silence of an elite AFKer. As he entered low armor, we were disconnected for downtime. I logged in quickly afterwards, intending to probe his aggressed ship in space. Alas, even though less than 15 minutes had passed, his ship was nowhere to be found. One must never underestimate the devious tactics of AFKers.

      ------------------------------------------

Why, one may ask, do I support the New Order? Because I consider myself to be, first and foremost, an educator. Let me explain.

When I make a mistake - as I often do - I look upon on it as a learning experience. For example, a day or two ago, I foolishly undocked my hauler full of navy cap boosters from Jita without an instant warp bookmark, and was quickly shown the error of my ways by a friendly tornado. As I floated awkwardly in my pod, I did not utter obscenities in localchat. Instead, I graciously thanked my tutor, for he had given me a gift far greater than 100mil worth of cap boosters. He had given me the gift of knowledge - it is a gift without price. Now I know to make instant undock bookmarks!

In similar fashion, I hope to educate the lawless AFK miners of highsec - my greatest teaching tools are my warp disruptor and blasters.

  8. Will be interested to see if my main (who is a major NO shareholder) can get into mining corps. I'm trying. The blasters are ready, the drones are fit, and two long points are on each ship (because why kill one miner when you can kill two?)
